Earth Hour - sounds familiar to you?

Earth Hour is a global effort to remind governments, organizations, businesses and public about global warming; and what they can do to stop it.

Earth Hour is targeting 1 billion votes from around the world, which will be presented to world leaders at the 2009 UN Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark this coming December. This meeting will formalize a new global deal for climate change, replacing the Kyoto Protocol.

How to vote? Simply switch off your lights for one hour to vote for Earth; or leave them on to vote for global warming.

When to vote? Saturday, March 28th, 2009 between 8:30PM-9:30PM.

For further information, please visit http://www.earthhour.org, the Earth Hour's official website.

    Thank you for Earth voters.

Yes, our Earth (our Home) is getting worse and worse. We need to stop the climate change. Our scientists are divided; some said the climate warming is already irreversible (that severe) while the rest still see a hope in reversing the climate. Well, to me, there are still hope but we need to act - and act fast. It is now or never.

Have you never heard of candles?

What is wrong with people? You don't deserve to live on this planet if you're not going to look after it. We're not asking much. How can people be so selfish?

Thanks Stu! I know that college & university students are going to have their mid-term exam around that time (in fact they have exams/tests/quizes almost every study-month). And I understand how it feel (I was a student of higher learning too). So, please relax & unwind during that one hour voting period.

I just find it hard to understand that anyone who knows about this, can ignore it. It's one hour without your lights on.

I'm not sure if you're supposed to turn everything off but my take is why not take a time out to appreciate life without any distractions. Look at what happened during the New York blackout - as the Orange ad said: "When things switch off, people switch on."

Hearing that someone is deliberately not doing it is like watching someone hit your sister. It makes me very angry.

instead of turning them off we all should get the ecological ones..and all the companies and state buildings too...it's no use for normal people to turn their lights on when the city hall or the city street lights are always up and running.

Because I genuinely don't care. Yes, the Earth gets a little warmer, we get a little wilder weather and then we get over it. I just want to enjoy my life, so I drive cars fast and do donuts on a track, I fly planes, I do things that are fun and just live in the moment. Then when it does get hot, I just crank up the air conditioner. There are also so many other things to worry about in life, so I tend not to worry about things that do not affect me, my family, my pets, posessions or anyone I know or care about.

Makes pretty much no difference on an LCD monitor, only those older CRTs.
