    Hello...

Im planning to buy a NIKON P90 . It original cost is around 25k ,but one of my friend was saying that,in Mumbai's grey market ,I can get it for 18-20k at max.

    Is that so ??
Where is Mumbai's grey market situated ?
Is that good one and legal one ?
Am I going to get a perfect product,If I buy it from there ??

Need suggestions from Mumbai users :D

Yep... you can get it cheap in Mumbai they wont provide you with Bill though... it is situated in CST (remember 26/11 ? :p), If I'm not wrong the place is called Manish Market or you can try Heera Panna near Worli

An electronic item should always be bought from a reputed shop/store as after-sales service is equally important for such buys....

In order to save 5,000, you are putting at risk 20,000/-, if the product fails miserably.....
    Give it a thought...mate :)

That's right. Always buy the product from the authorized dealer/reseller and insist on the bill. By getting the bill, you too participate in the nation building activity.

If I were in your place, I would go for a genuine box packed piece which comes with bill and warranty.

Frankly speaking, its not worth buying something from the grey market just for the sake of saving 5k.

The name should have tipped you off, its called grey market for a reason :p
Most of the goods don't come with a warranty and sometimes if they do give a warranty then there is no guarantee that you'll find the same seller/shop again at the same spot. You'd be better of buying an original from a reputed dealer/ authorized dealer.

    Well,in US,its just 400$..
Can I get it from US ,via any of my client or friend ??

How much would it cost to ship a NIKON P90 from USA,which is a electronic product and weights just less than 2 KG via FEDEX or BLUEDART ??

Be careful in grey market, try to go through source.
There are lot of good dealers in grey market also.
I think you should try Heera Panna, Mahalaxmi.
I would advice you for buy from authorised and recognised vendor.
    Good luck.

Friend, again you are inviting trouble for you. Apart from the shipping charges you will be charged customs duty and various other charges right when your product is screened by the customs department when the parcel arrives. Apart from that, you will be charged octroi charges and then finally the courier company will input their own custom & octroi handling and clearing charges. Which means the cost of the product will be more than what you could get from the authorised dealer.

I suggest you visit your nearest authorised dealer and ask him for a good deal. And I am sure that for a camera worth Rs. 25,000/- anyone would give you a good deal.

If you understand what I am trying to say, there's a lot of difference when we import a single product versus a company importing their products in different country.

And even if you manage to get one, what you will do about the warranty? What if something goes wrong?

I'd recommend you to get from India... coz including the shipping price it will come down to $550+ for sure

shipping charges of Fedex or DHL or UPS are quite high from my personal experience... I bought a Microsoft Zune 80 weighs around 130 grams they charged me 92$ for shipping via Fedex Express Intl. you say the weight of the camera is around 2 kg so just think about the shipping cost + when the fedex guy comes for the delivery you have to pay Customs and Duties ;)

P.S I bought Zune coz it is not available in India... the Camera is so getting it from a Store nearby would save you a lot of $$$$

    good luck

    Ok,I got it...
How about if some of my friend buys it from US and gets the whole package with all the valid bills, etc with him, when he returns to India. I think, that will be fine..
