blah, don't listen to that rubbish about getting too many backlinks too fast. What if your site was in the news for something and all of a sudden thousands of blogs and sites started linking to you? Do you think Google will ban your site? Doubt it. Penalize it? Doubt it.

Also if you're getting directory links most of the pages in those directory's are not crawled regularly by google bot so if you got 1000 links they most likely wont show up immediately but more over a slow period of time.

I do agree with the people saying the releant links is most important. You could have a site with 100k backlinks and a site with 1 and the site with one will rank higher. The most inportant factors are relevent backlinks from trusted sites + age of site = high rankings. Good SEO results take time. If you want fast results my best advice would be to buy an older, established site with backlinks in the niche you're to rank for.

 

4 months is a very short time in regards to SEO. Update your site with fresh content, get relevant back links to your site and it will grow daily. From my experience, you wont really get good results till at least 6-12 months.

For some reason, google don't show all backlinks with the link:domain.com
To get better result, we must use the webmaster tools.

Submit your RSS / Sitemaps to Google Webmaster Tools. Wait a week and you can see your backlinks on webmaster tools.

 

By the way mates I got 3000+ backlinks and my site ranked in the first page of google.

No google backlinks for your site. May be google penalized your site. Try to create links naturally. Do not try to create thousand backlink within a day. Very carefully dealing with google.

There's a few tools out there on the net i've come across that helps test how your site is fairing amongst issues like this. Unfortunately this was awhile back when i came across them.

 

The problem is just having a large number of backlinks doesn't mean you will rank.

I have a site I have worked on less than 1 hour in the past 5 years. It's in a law niche. I have probably less than 10 banklinks. The niche has about 20,000 searches per month and my site ranks #5.

Good point. I guess sometimes the real goal is to find those niche's rather than trying to part all the competition just to get ahead.

Only problem then is you have to be so up to date on the newest and upcoming things in order to get the first jump at them in their niche form until they blow up (if they do).

 

its depend...thousand ok links is not the achievement to get top in the google. no. of things count in SERP. links can improve your PR...but cn't get u on top.just do natural link building.

Everyone for the most part is in the same boat because its all guess work, unless your some egghead at Google who understands SEO in and out
