I've submitted to at least 100 directories over the past 10 days, and I've seen in my email I have at least 60-70 "Your Link Has Been Approved" emails. (I've verified this by checking the directory page and sure enough, my link is there) Anyway, I've been checking the backlinks of my site via Yahoo Site Explorer and I only see backlinks from personal sites that I'm link building on (Blogs, my other websites with links in the sidebar, etc) I don't see one backlink from a directory. Is this common? Do directories get indexed by Google quickly? How long does it take AFTER your link is already approved? I'm anxious to get as many links as I can before April 1st, because I've heard chatter of a PR update then. Thanks.
That's the same question from my site as I submitted to over 1000 directories and did not get any link when I site in yahoo, I have posted a thead and hope some one with more expericences can guide us , waitting for ....
That's the same question from my site as I submitted to over 1000 directories and did not get any link when I site "link" in yahoo, I have posted a thread and hope some one with more expericences can guide us , waitting for .... I don't care more about pr but really want to get it clear it's still worth doing in future ?
@Ralph23 :- did you submit at free directory with have to many spamming keywords? or just drop domain that have PR?
My personal experience says that it will take time before those links become visible in yahoo site explorer. I submitted my site to many directories and no results were shown in initial 1 month or so..but once the pr and serps were updated, I saw those links...
Yeah, I hope they'll start showing up. I have one more week of submitting to 10-15 directories a day. gets quite tedious, so I hope it's worth it in the end.
A VERY small PR update happened last month that affected barely anyone. We're due for a big one in a few weeks.
lol you need to wait untill yahoo bot gone find your link some categories are not offen visited by bots u need more time to see efects it will not happen over night
100 Directories? Wow, those are a lot. Can you enumerate the top ten sites where you submitted it to?
100 directories is not enough. Continue submitting, who cares when the backlinks are going to show up
Thats not a good attitude to have, zexy. if they're not showing up (and may never show up) you're wasting time.
Zexy is correct. Look at it this way... Search engines will take some time to crawl the pages your link appears on. This can take up to a month alone. Then consider how long it will take the search engines, or Yahoo in this case, to actually display these links in Site Explorer. Normally Yahoo is quick, but it can still take a few days. Also none of the search engines will show you every link pointing to your site. While Yahoo is better then the other search engines in this respect, they still do not show all links. Ten days is too little time for any directory links to show up. Give it another month and you should see some results. Also, forget about PR. Don't let it guide you. Continue promoting your site and adding great content.
Directory listings are next to useless. Most pass absolutely no juice - just like forum sigs and blog comments. I recently submitted our site to 100 CSS galleries but I think they pass more juice as they have more editorial value. Plus many get good traffic and traffic > link in many cases.
