hey guys i posted a few days ago about how to market my small website. i'm still at a loss of how to do it. i tried a twitter account but it's temporarily suspended for too many followings (i followed about 2000 people about 350 were following me). i've made a myspace profile trying to get traffic to my site. put a local ad in The Stranger, i'm IP banned on craigslist, etc. i didn't put the url in my last post because i didn't want to seem like i'm spamming. but i want to put it in here so you can get an idea of what kind of business it is. in fact you really don't need to click it, the name says it all. www.sexyhousecleaners.com any suggestions?
If your serious about this and not spamming this forum, to be honest with that domain you should be talking to other adult sites for referrals and not going about using more mainstream sites because (as you've already found out) you won't get far.
thanks for the replies guys. i don't really want to be associated with adult sites. my girls are just housecleaners, not hookers. so i don't want to blur that line. but thanks for the help.
The fact that you keep getting banned all over the place shows that you need to learn the difference between promotion and spamming. There's no reason why you can't get promotion going for something that's a bit 'saucy', you just have to be a bit sensible and sensitive about it.
From your 206 area code, it seems you're in the Seattle area. Why don't you try advertising on a Vancouver, BC escorts review site, perb.ca. They get quite a lot of traffic from Washington.
Twitter and having a signature will not help you. Not because of you business type, it's because they do not work, period. MySpace might work, but you still have to do advertising to let the locals know about that page. So...might as well advertise anyway. Advertising is the only option anyway. I would suggest going to all of the local dives (restaurants), bars and clubs and pay to have your flyers put up. Laundromats and other certain businesses are also an option. That is IF they accept it. You might have to sweeten the deal with more money. If a particular business is owned by a single guy, offer him free services. Adult stores? Strip joints? Escort services? Give part of the profit to the owners. Your local newspaper??? Put ads in such single's sites as PlentyOfFish and Match. Your ads will show up when they are looking up girls in their area. That is, IF they even accept your ads. Hand out cards to college students, and other places where a lot of guys go, and try to get word of mouth going at the same time. Any military bases nearbye where you can put up signs, billboards near the entrance? Speaking of billboards, look into them. You might be able to rent them real cheap, and put them up wherever. Think...where do singles and hard up guys hang out at? Then go there. Ad in the Yellow Pages? Expensive, but it might work out for you. Put flyers out in the college area? Put in an electronic display sign in the back of your car? Magnetic car signs? Why were you banned at CraigsList? Before doing any of this, I would strongly suggest making your site better, though. No offense, but it is not very good.
thanks copper, i appreciate it. yeah, i literally just registered that domain like 10 days ago. i'm totally winging this. i have no marketing experience whatsoever! the way it seems to me so far is, if you put in the work and do it right advertising will pay off. i'll admit that in a way, i thought the business would sell itself. i thought i would get plenty of traffic through craigslist, and not have to worry about getting clients. well it looks like it won't be that easy. thanks again, and i promise to not be such a noobie anymore. by the way, before twitter took me down, i was getting a huge number of hits from them.
Well, marketing is my field, so I guess I'm a bit of a nerd in that area. heh I edited my other post to put in more tips for you to think about. Yeah, you do get a lot of hits, but, did you get any sales? I'm in ebooks for singles, and also in marketing for webmasters, I won't even bother with Twitter. Too many are looking for free info, and just screwing around. I think you aren't seeing as many sales as you like because of the economy, and especially because your girls will only do light cleaning. Hell, bro, the guys do that already, so why should they hire someone to do it? Even a sexy girl.
I think one of the most effective methods of advertising a business for free would be craigslist of all places. I advertise and sell a bunch of stuff with outstanding results. I have a friend here in VA and she does housecleaning and all her clients are from advertising on Craigs. Hope this helps...
Are there any local websites where you can advertise? have you tried adwords? Also, maybe you should try to be more subtle and advertise "housecleaning" then send attractive women. Btw, I hope you are only targeting single guys with a paycheck - not students or married men because guess what - if you slipped a flyer for sexy house cleaning under the door of a married man, his wife would make sure you did not get the job. I would think your market would be men in well paying jobs with no time on their hands to clean - think medicine finance, law, entrepreneurs. Another thing to consider - when most people get their houses clean, they aren't home. So perhaps your business model is a bit flawed. Maybe the attractive women should be making the sales pitch and the houses should be cleaned by whoever has the most elbow grease. M P.S. shameless plug, see my signature. it may help you out.
Wow, copper, what a great list of tips! Anyone who's trying to market their products and services can use those ideas and expand them to dozens of others -- I know they got my creative juices flowing!
hey guys, i revamped the website. www. sexyhousecleaners.com is it professional enough yet? do i need a bigger selection of women? i'm still stuck on how to advertise, but i have a few ideas up my sleeve. what do you guys think of the site in general? if you were in seattle and you were single would you consider buying the service? why or why not
not to be rude but if your girls are not hokkers why are you using word sexy or emphasizing on this feature anyway you supply girls(ok house keepers) it means that your business is limited to some local site or area level. First of all optimize your sit for that specific area.(you know bout SEO, dont ya?) second, you can use local news paper. but to be honest the url is good enough to keep a family away from your service. sorry if you or your feelings get hurt
i'm not interested in being family oriented........ they are called SEXY housecleaners, because they wear bikinis and lingerie while they clean. no, i don't know how to use seo to make my site appear better in search engines. but quite frankly i don't think there are many guys searching for "sexy house cleaners". i just need to get the word out about the biz.
