Lets say you have divided your sites between different IP addresses. This way interlinking between your sites looks more natural to search engines. But all of your sites are on the same google webmaster tools account. This tells google that all of those sites really belong to you. Even though all of the sites have different IP addresses, they are linked to the same google webmaster tools account. Does anyone here think that having all of your sites in one google webmaster tools account can hurt your ranking?
Since google uses whois information to detect common ownership, it is only reasonable to assume they would use webmaster tools, analytics, adsense accounts, etc. to weed out "unnatural links". I've even seen Aaron Wall suggest that google might be using less obvious signals to detect common ownership, such as interlinking between sites that all have privacy registration - or sites that all use the same registrar.
Google is very smart...it could easily detect you interlinking to your own site...it would definetly hurt your rankings
Couldn't you use a whois protection to prevent this? The reason I am asking, I have a blog that I rarely update, and one of its sole purposes is to act as a portal to one of my forums. I thought about adding it to my google webmaster tools, but decided not to. The main reason why I did add the site to my google webmaster tools is because I did not want all of my domains under a single account. I have a second google account I might add the site to.
I don't think so if you know the meanings could you please explain to me what according to you is deep linking and backlinking. Please I want to learn from you.
As I stated in my original post, they may factor in privacy protection - google is also a registrar, so if you add privacy protection AFTER the fact, they are going to know who the domain used to be registered to. A second account may work IF there isn't any way to detect common ownership and you don't log into both from the same computer or IP address.

The OP is talking about linking to one site from another site you own. There is nothing wrong with this as long as there is a legitimate reason to do - just don't expect google to count it as an unbiased "vote" for your site if they determine common ownership. If it is abused, it looks like a link farm and can get you a penalty. You incorrectly stated that "no it will not hurt you" and then stated that deep linking is better than building backlinks. Deep linking (not to the home page) is a type of backlink , so your statement makes no sense.
I think even you are not clear about the topic . I think the guy wants to know that if he has say 10 sites can he interlink them to build backlinks, and he will register and monitor the sites using a single webmaster account. I am sure the links will not be counted and his site may be banned by Google for artificial linking. What say mjewel The wind Rider
