Can I style the search box?

I am using Adsense for Search on my future website that I am making. You know how they give you the code with the watermark and whatnot? I want to be able to style the form with my own CSS so that it matches my theme. Am I allowed to do this?

Pretty sure the answer is no. Anything more specific about how you're trying to style it?

I just want to change the color and stuff. All it would require is for me to change the ID of the form.

No, you can't modify the code at all.

Not worth risking your adsense account to change the color IMO :)

Yes, you can edit search box style by Css but don't change the ID of the form.

Lol, you're stupid. So many people just typing nonsense answers.
Yes, you can edit the search box style, just leave all the parameters same.

I was wondering the same thing and discovered that if you use the watermark search box (where it says 'Google Custom Search' inside) any CSS changes you make on your end will be overwritten by the Google JavaScript and CSS file on their end. You can actually restyle it on your end and the customization may show briefly on the box. It did for me. But as soon as you click inside or do a search, it will revert to what Google wants and then stay that way. You can still change the submit button to an image or whatever though.

If you choose the other 'Look and Feel' options where the Google logo and 'Custom Search' text are beside or below the text box, you CAN restyle the box and change the border, text, colour, etc. The only problem is that having the Google logo and text outside the text box requires a lot more space. That's why I liked the watermarked version. I just wanted the colours to blend with my site a bit better because it looked out of place as it was.

Anyways, hope this helps because I too, was looking for an answer! :p

Oh, and vinug, I think Google changed the way they offer a site search engine. It's called AdSense for Search not Custom Search and encompasses all options to add a search box.
