Hmm.. Seems like $20 in US is like $100 in India. Am I right? BTW, what is the standard salary for intermediate workers in India?
Interesting question! $20 is a good amount if you earn it daily. Now good amount means its more than the average salary of an employee. However, how far it goes, depends mainly on you. There are places where you can spend around $100 easily for a dinner for two people and there are places where you can spend $5 and have a nice meal for two. But if you spend intelligently, $20 everyday is a nice amount.
The value of $20, is roughly $120 in India. Recently, in a survey I read that the amount of stuff you get for $6 in the US, can be bought for $1 in India. $1 in India= $6 in the US I don't remember the source of this info, but it was some reliable Indian newspaper...Times of India I suppose, unsure about the source, but quite sure abt the figure
$20 a day is actually higher than what a Enginner earns?, How do you say that mate? I work for NHAI (NAtional Highway Authority of India), our engineers earn like Rs.50,000+ a month ($1000 or more.) $1000 a month is anytime bigger then $20 a day! In a sense yes, in a sense no. The lower middle class and the poors can do good with $20 a day.But for the others (including the upper middle class) living here in New Delhi or the metros $20 is nothing! A new PS2 game cd would cost you around Rs. 1500+ = $30+ The salary stucture here depends on your education. A intermediate graduate can earn from Rs. 10,000 - Rs. 25,000 a month ($200 to $500) A intermidiate post graduate can earn from Rs.20,000 - 35,000 a month ($400 to $ 700) A PHD or a experienced labour can earn upto Rs.60,000+ a month ($1200+)
The Power of US$ 20 for ( Middle Class Family ) 1. 2 kg sugar Rs. 55 2. 0.5 kg. TATA Tea Rs. 100 3. Oil 2 Kg Rs. 110 4. Home Gas 14 Ltr Rs. 325 5. 10 Kg Wheat Flour Rs. 165 6. Rice 8 kg. Rs. 270 because of India has lots of manpower regards
It varies highly, lets do a small conversion: $20=around 900 Rupees. 1 litre of petrol -> 45-50 rupees a trip to the movies with your girlfriend: Rs. 100 for tickets+ another 100 for food and stuff Buy her a small gift, like a small teddy bear: 300-400 rupees min. possible left: 200 rupees I guess that gives a good enough idea?
First India is not a economically depressed country, we have 7 indians in top 100 worlds richest persons declared recently by Forbes. Its just that not everyone in 1 billion people can be bill gates. Provided our history of 60 odd years of independence (since 1947) we have done well enough for ourselfs and india is set to be the next super power. Even at this time of economic crisis not a single big indian company or banks collapsed like it happended in US and all over the world (Satyam was a case of Fraud ) As for your answer, the thing is that 1 US $ = Appx 50 Indian Rs. So 20.00 $ will be or 1000 INR (Indian Rupee) which is a decent amount. Cost of living is low in india, food, cloth and shelter have enough economical options here, that does not mean that they can not be expensive. So visit a 5 Star hotel and 1 k INR will make up for some Tea and snacks, but then there are surely palces where you can get you family a nice quality dinner for that price as well. And I would like to add - there are millions of amercian who love those paid to click sites and enjoy feel proud of their 'free' earnigs of a cent per 30 sec view of ads, and i mean Bloddy MILLIONS indeed ! So at the end of the day, what u can make out of yourself is totally up to you
$20 in India can go a long way. It can buy you food grain of about 50 kilos in India. Now you can guess, how far it goes.
rofl who buys game in India..... and not all engineers get 50k + Its only after years of experience probably 6+ you reach that scale..
