I have tried very hard to market my website through forum posting and classified ads. but the results are still not good. Only getting about 100 page views per day. So I am wondering if free traffic does work or not... And how do you market your site???
Ummmm..Just adding to site to several directories and social bookmarking sites will not rocket your page views. You need to have the req content on your site, to be worth the views you deserve. If you are confident with your content, i suggest you go for "Digg" and "stumbleupon" if you already havent done it.

Submit articles to eZine articles, It takes a while to get accepted, but if you have quality content/article people will notice it and visit your site.

Even these kinds of social bookmarkers will be of no help except bleaching your bandwidth since they are not targeted. Where content is king and traffic is queen, concentrate providing unique and original contents to your human visitors and befriend the bots by doing SEO. Getting the free but precious search engine traffic shall be the aim of each and every publisher
Traffic generation will give you tons of traffic, but it is low quality since most of the members are only surfing to get points. But they are free. Submitting your website takes forever since they have to approve it.
In my experience (along with many others) the social bookmarking sites like digg, reddit, and the like of them are a big waste of time unless of course your a power user. I've read my share of submissions through each of them and have noticed time and time again from either comments or even through the submissions themselves mocking the services that their one sided. SEO definitely is worth looking into, unfortunately since there's no real way of know what SEO is looking for this is going to be another time robber for most people who don't have the tools or resources. I'm NOT saying don't do this, but don't be swayed into obsessing. Because as you can tell from the SEO forum, its not all what its cracked up to be
Maybe you need to confirm your keywords of your site,and extend it ,build some backlinks then i think the visitors will increase.
SEO would be your best bet in terms of getting TARGETED traffic that would actually be interested in what you're selling. Optimize your site to get placement in Google searches for certain keywords related to your site. It's not going to happen overnight though, since you'll have to actually learn how SEO works and then you'll have to actually DO the optimization (which is a continual process if you want to maintain your ranking), then you'll have to wait for the search engines to generate a stable rank for your site. You want to write in a way that compels people to check out your site. The ones in your signature don't really seem to give people any compelling reason to check out your site (well, somewhat, but could be better). If you learn how to write more compelling ads, you'll probably see an increase in traffic and sales.
