Probably because it didn't work, for him.

I honestly believe that most directories are "link farms" because they lack sufficient categories -or- do a lousy job of keeping out the spammy sites.

Directory Submission is an art form, requiring a whole separate "101" article:

    • Directory Architecture: PHP Link Directory script is one of the best for PR aspects
    • Category Submission: choosing the right category for best PR
    • How many clicks from "Home" or "Index" page? no more than two clicks is best.
    • Does the Directory rank the listings by PR? --- this is the best way to get good link juice. (My site is PR 4 so it nearly always gets Page One listing!)
    • Free or Paid? --- one of my competitors bought a whole bunch of Paid Directory listings, and he's now a PR-0

I think Chris was smart in not touching the subject of Directories.

However, with the right knowledge ---- you can spot a good Free Directory even when they are NEW.

Thanks for the post but I disagree with this one

"Stay clear from any sex related, porn, pharmaceuticals, gambling, and other unsavory websites."

since you will need sex related and porn sites if you are in the adult industry and gambling links if you have casino related sites.

It is all about the niche you are in.

    Thanks

Stupid question here guys...I looked at the source code for digital point and where we submit our comments - it has nofollow all over the place. I understand that DP wants nofollow on different objects...I just wanna make sure that DP is a "DoFollow Forum".

    Someone please correct me...
