    Hi,

My website is first on MSN.com for "web design eastbourne".

How come we're not getting any traffic?

No one uses MSN. I get most of my traffic from google. It has by a country mile the biggest market share.

First msn doesn't get much traffic and second your keyword isn't powerful i.e less people search for your keyword.

One of our sites is ranking third in Live.com for a keyword with more than 5000 searches x day and we only get a few clicks per day. It still brings daily sales but not as close as the same keyword in google.
Is MSN worth optimizing? Of course! It still sends customers, but it is not close of being a traffic generator as google or yahoo are.

Sunlust, the reason for the little traffic is that web design eastbourne is not a competitive keyword. It draws only 12 daily searches, per WordTracker. So it matters very little how high or low you rank for that term.

Now if you begin to rank highly for the shorter and far more competitive phrase web design, you will begin to see lots of traffic. That keyword phrase draws over 3,000 daily searches.

As it has been said, MSN is a pathetic excuse for a search engine. Sadly those search terms are probably not searched for all too often. I am in Australia, I wouldn't be one of the people searching for those terms for example.

    Excellent suggestion.....mate.

Even though MSN has lesser people using it, the keyword of OP is not competitive enough to draw much traffic. As suggested, you should perhaps concentrate on working with good competitive keywords to get good traffic from search engines.

I wouldn't suggest ignoring MSN. They sent me about 5K visitors last month. But I have never tried to target one search engine over another. I just try to do good copy writing and to implement good, broad-based, time-honored methods of SEO, then let the results come as they may.

The OP has already received all the help he could wish for in this thread: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=10910528#post10910528 - Where he asks a very similar question essentially the same regarding Yahoo, yet not a single word of thanks for any of the advice given to him or even an acknowledgement of the assistance provided on his behalf.

    Namely:

    &

It would seem that this poster isn't really bothered about the situation and has just posed the question to waste everyone's time, he doesn't really want to receive the help, otherwise there would have been an update from him, either on this thread or the other one.

I say let him carry on making his blinding mistakes.

You just can't help some people.

And he calls himself an SEO expert on his website - what a joke!

people don't like to search on msn because its bit slow ... Mostly peoples just like to search on google and some are like to search on yahoo but no one like to search on MSN . Thats why you are not getting traffic from MSN

Darn, couldn't read anything on that site anyway. If it ever did get a visitor, they wouldn't stay long.

Dont worry about MSN and Yahoo Mah friend,
I found your website ranking in Google.co.uk in normal results at 6th Pos. for the same keywords and in Google local results your website got the first pos. I think you must be getting enough traffic from it. Isn;t it?

You need to target a more competitive keyword phrase. That keyword phrase has very little traffic.

There is not much traffic on MSN itself and especially for your keyword. Start optimizing your website for some other keyword.
