Submiting to multiple categories

I just began submitting my website to free directories. I have heard that for alot of them I can submit my domain mutiple times to the same directory as long as a put them in different categories that are sutable. For example if my website is about health food i could submit it to the following categories:
    health
    books (if I sell books)
articles (f I have original articles)
    food
    etc.

Is this correct? Is it only some sites? any help would be appreciated, I dont want to do anything that might penalize me.

But all my directories only allow one link.
So in your case, only one would be approved, the rest deleted.

I would be careful of submitting to the same directory multiple times like that, using one domain.
It could be seen as directory spamming and may get you banned from that directory.
Try spreading it out, like one submission per week minimum.

We are launching a directory early next week for this very reason. I will not go into it, but it is meant to cure this dumb situation :)

I usually only allow one category, and delete the rest (for free submissions). Sometimes I allow it (if the site is really good), but most of the time not.

for me if you put it in a subdomain, then it's alright (if it's good). I don't want individual pages, I usually delete them immediately.

I've had people in the past submit to like 50 categories in one day. This is very frustrating. This is one of the reasons limits are often put in place. I know of a couple of phpLD forums that were modded to allow multiple categories.

But sometimes it's so difficult to find the correct category for your site.
I am facing this problem as well.

My directory is set up so that if you try to submit an url more than once, you can't do it, and I will only accept the root url. I think the majority of directory owners do not want to see you submitting to several categories, unless you are paying for each one. Then you can usually do what you want.

I guess it depends on the directory owner, I usually delate them, and keep one of them. There is no point wasting your time to submitting them to different categories. Just submit to one, and move on to the next one.
