    Hey,

I was just wondering if anyone knows the answer to my question?

"If I purchase a new domain name, does this mean I get a fresh SEO, Google Ranking start??? I only ask because I believe my other domain has been blacklisted for building to many links to fast!"

    Thanks

The new site is a fresh start. What was your old site? Google doesn't ban sites for building links too fast. They ban sites that try to trick the search engines by hiding text and selling links. If your site is still in the index, then it is not banned.

A new website is always a new start. The new website might take around 6 months to rank better for top competitive keywords as the website will be in Sandbox/trustbox .

I could not agree with the above statement what john1021 said, Google has opened eyes so they watching everything happened in your sites.

If you do more back links in short period with same anchor text and for a same URL then you will banned.

Alternatively you can buy a domain name with PR because it will take lot of time to regain your position especially if PR is concerned.

Ranking of a new website depends on lots of factors which are very technical but you should follow below steps while promoting a new website:
    1. Directory submission mainly product/services related. Geo based directory submission will be a plus point.
    2. Press Releases and Article submission (quality content)
    3. Social Bookmarking
    4. Community discussion

I think this will help in promotion of a new website.

Buy a new domain with a happy and relaxed mine.
Have some patience and do these steps slowly
Target only 3-4 most important keywords (include 1-2 long tail too)
    Start with quality directory submissions
15 Unique articles marketing every month
Forum discussions and blog commenting (don't be emotional and do an optimum blog commenting)
Make 2 good squidoo lenses and get backlinks
Get backlinks from 4-5 similar niche website or blogs every month.. prefer some PR

Google will love you and your website for sure
