There is definitely something going on in the last few weeks. My subdomain crashed at 20/2, recovered on Monday and today the rankings are back down. A Nasty -6 and -40 drop for my precious primary KW and an even nastier kick for my secondary KW and inner pages rankings. Did anyone notice any pattern or common features regarding the sites that were kicked?
No deep crawls here in a while, but that is not to say there is one on the way, Think the last one I had was mid February.
Same here. The inner page ranking disappeared too, even the easiest one that impossible for one of my inner page not ranked for that keyword. Its look like the whole domain weight got frozen so the important of inner page will not come back unless your domain weight is back. I'm not sure but I think most the site that got effected may be in this pattern 1. Your site may have ranked under some important/competitive keywords 2. Your site may recently gain link from some big authority site in your niche 3. Your site content is may unique, quality and updated regularly. Just my opinion, please do not count as 100% fact. You have some point. I have noticed the same thing when observe in Google webmaster tools. One of my site that got effected has been crawled very deep. The graph of bot that spending time download is very high before the ranking fluctuated happened.
i donot see it changes hourly especially all people here or at least people are reading this thread certified that. google is undergone another update but your case is really strange.
For me the SERPS changes seem to affect only inner pages. For lots of keywords in the past few weeks I've noticed the number of results has been increasing, e.g. where there were once 1,500,000 results for a keyword there might now be 48,000,000 results.
Google has lost its way with this update almost 4 weeks of inconsistancy > were approaching upheaval of Florida levels now! Couple to that the # of results for searchs varying but upto 1000% and google 'seams' to be in a bit of a mess. We'll see what happens ... I wouldn't mind but were moving between 15th anf 6th on about 10 major money keyphrases. Settle down G to save my sanity Lol ttfn
Yes still going on for me, I was on page one for like 7 major keywords or phrases and then a few hours later I am on page 3 and then back to page 1. Its crazy. What would really suck is after this whole dance if I had no forward movement at all.
Just thought I'd chime in on this issue since I'm glad it wasn't something I did that caused my home page to drop from the top of the first page to the middle of the second page, as well as unusual drops to my inner pages for my main keywords. I use highly competitive broad based keywords, so I wonder if the ranking shift for the broad keywords I target is the result of the recent "branding" algo change. The fact that my home page got dumped to the second page even though I have a pretty darn good quality site that's been at the top of the first page for years is just frustrating right now.
You are right on target, my site is guilty of all the 3 charges. Serves me right for uploading all those new pages and fresh content to my site. Something is definitely going on (see rankpulse site), maybe it's got something to do with that damn "brand update" everybody keeps mentioning...
From the past one week I am noticing something really wierd ie. that Google keep showing different results when I search number of pages indexed. site:www.mysite.com And sometimes it is 1200 and sometimes its 120,000. And it changes every minute. Though I do not see any change in traffic from Google though. Strange []
Wish I should comment but as we just threw all the old keywords out the window or rearranged some and started with a new strategy I have absolutely no idea. I'm just monitoring the new keywords as they rise up.
i too noticed something like this .... when i checked my sites ranking for its major keywords in G ... i was not able to find in top 100 ... but yest when i checked the rankings, my site was back at same positions and noticed a jump in visitors too ... i have been experiencing such things for many of my sites and this was not the first time its happening with my serp's i dont like this type of dance
My serps are being slammed every single day. My best site went from 7k visits day to 3.5k.... Earnings are the same because for some unknown reason clicks are worth more now, but either than that I'm losing big time. I really don't know what to do anymore. I guess we all gave Google too much power and now we have to pay the price.
What i am noticing is that this "Vince" update is slowly being reversed to where we were before the update. G said that no long tail keywords were supposed to be effected but they were. Most of mine for sure. Competitive keywords were slammed. Also my suspicion is that "trust" is now even more heavily based on age. Which is said because it goes in the face of fresh content, and makes old established and LAME businesses harder to knock out. But I am seeing it reverse and revert to where we were 2-3 weeks a-go. This was a waist of time and who ever Vince is he should jump off a bridge.
I agree since yesterday we stopped bouncing and went back to page 3 and have stayed there for two solid days. Not moved for over 48hrs now. this is crazy, from flirting daily with page 1, number six to being hit all the way to page 3 and looks like we are staying there.
Dang in hte last 24 hours I moved into the top 10 for both sex games and sex stories - pretty sure I will not stay there but it is very cool right now
