I've spend $$$ on adwords and yahoo. Well to be honest I've spent less than a hundred. The rest are vouchers/coupons.

Currently, i'm doing clickbank affiliate. I have fair knowledge in PPC marketing i've read some ebooks, i've loss and earned some profit... so I'm not totally newbie.

My experience with Yahoo Search > $100 on a campaign = 2 sales $40 profit
    Adwords $30 = Nothin'

    any advice?

How do you pay less for a keyword but get a lot of clicks? Is there any way to research low paying keywords?

    thnks

I'm going to tell you straight. Using PPC as an affiliate is VERY hard to do, getting a customer to click your ad, then to leave your site and then make a purchase on ANOTHER website is near impossible according to statistics. People who do not find what they want within two clicks will generally leave that website, I would personally not recommend doing it no matter how experienced you are.

You need to spend much more, to test, to "feel" the PPC business. In my opinion, with 30 usd You don't get a real picture of how should an ad be written, landing page, converting visitors in sales....

    Keep up the good work.

In one of his videos Chris Carpenter has shown how to bid higher first for a keyword and then how to reduce the cpc slowly once the CTR increases.

The short answer is Yes. There are so many variables that come into play in determining if this practice is profitable. Depending on the the type of affiliate program the conversion varies. A short form or just getting an email or zip code is much easier to convert than having an end-user go through and fill out multiple pages of information. Of course, that also effects your lead EPC. Regardless, the name of the game is test and optimize and PPC -> affiliate is profitable.

It all depends on the product you are promoting and how well it converts.

As much as I know, Aswords affiliate may work as long as you have big and trusted site, such as facebook.
In this way your site looks like a recommend site.

I have been running Adword campaign. So far no conversion. I personally think spending on SEO is better option than these campaigns. Risk involved in affiliate marketing is

    1. People can visit your site but there might be a tracking cookie on his/her machine. Even if they buy through my site..I may not get the affiliate money
    2. People may visit my site and after few days when browser is refreshed they go to some other site and then buy.

Could you please share some statistics if you are involved in affiliate marketing

yeah bud I've got some set up for affiliate products, but they barely get any impressions because the bids from others are like .50 and up. Ridiculous.

I dunno bout you guys, but I started to think that Yahoo! Search Marketing converts wayy better than Adwords. I use direct linking for Yahoo Marketing, and use landing page fr adwords. Probly my landing page isn't gd enough thats why it didn't perform well in adwords.

Definitely possible. Try targeting long tail keywords by building from your
    root keywords
