Hello All DP Member, How numerous URLs by the side of mainly did Google Sitemap XML files maximum? Please share your suggestion here .....
If you feel that you have two many urls in one sitemap you can actually break your sitemap up into different files. some sitemap generators will separate them for you.
kkobashi is correct 50,000 urls and under 10mb and it has to be under 10mb after its been unzipped. I compress mine to save bandwidth and some of them were over 10mb after they have been unzipped. If you have more then 50,000 urls like me, what you need to do is create an index sitemap file that points to all your site maps. if you follow sitemaps.org standards you will only have to do it once and you can submit that sitemap to pretty much any search engine.
Most of the sites i'm running are wordpress-based and they have a plugin called Google XML Sitemap, I use it and so far I can say it's good. How's your experience about it, and can you suggest a better sitemap generator that automates the process?
I agree with akadanpaul that u first should have an index sitemap with the URLs of other sitemaps. Try to create sitemaps with not more than 5000 URLs, that will be easy for you to handle and also for Google to cache... All the best!
