After I joined Twitter my traffic has skyrocketed. Give it a try if you're not already using it to promote your site.
What did you exactly do? Did you follow people you knew at first or did you just start following random people? I personally am having mixed results from using twitter to promote my new startup. I def. did get hits from it but only about 4-8 hits from it a day, nothing spectacular. These were mainly coming from my profile.
I searched for companies that are in the same niche/industry as me and looked at their followers, then I started following their followers and a lot of them started to follow me.
Hmm, i never believed that twitter can get good traffic, i guess i can give it a try and see how it goes.
you should also check out joel comms "twitter power" on amazon. its a really good read and it will help you take twitter to the next level
Give value and build your following and the traffic you will get from twitter will be more responsive
Twitter is free marketing at its finest. Seriously... People will signup and follow a provider as much providers will run special twitter coupon/promotions from time to time. They see your updated status, they grab the coupon, they use it, profit
I've heard some people saying Twitter is the best thing since sliced bread, and other people say it did nothing for them. I can see the potential there, but it seems to work best as a method for building relationships and partnerships with people, rather than making direct sales. Out of curiosity, how was the traffic from Twitter to your site in terms of conversions. Meaning, did the people actually purchase your products, services, etc.? If so, great job!
Check this out Jimmy Fallon picked a guy watching and told everyone to follow him went from 7 followers to over 18k (7 hrs later)!! http://twitter.com/bryanbrinkman
I just watched the intro video for Twitter... Doesn't like you could generate more than a few clicks... Not worth the time IMHO
I'm new to twitter as well, still don't fully understand how to use it, but from what I have read it could be useful. I found this guy talking about it, he seems to think it will be quite big. Twitter bigger then google video
Twitter and its evolving Tweet-a-thons are proving to be very profitable especially for non-profits. A lot of funds have been raised for very good causes with very little, if at all, use of of precious nonprofit funds. It's just a matter of getting the hanging of it and learning how it actually works. It does get to be overwhelming at first--too much "twittering" here and there--but once you know who and what you want to tune into, you can customize your tweets from there.
