Hello. I am in need of advice. I got my online store set up already (http://www.realclothingstore.com). Now what should I do to promote it? and if you have any helpful advice, can you please share it with me? Thank you.

You will need to do some SEO on the site, get it indexed and also do some advertising, try with forum marketing with forums in your niche. (Don't spam them) write some articles get them published and submit your website to some Web Directories... thats almost free and you can gain some good traffic and buying customers.

@fionix: Thanks. That is good advice. I'll try to research more on SEO. Do you have any tips on SEO that you might be able to share?

@eliranzaga: I know you want to get ur post up but could you please explain more about how to advertise? I'm pretty much stuck on how to advertise, etc.

@Random Guy. Any way on finding out how and if it involves money, I'm afraid I'm running out of them so money isn't really an option until the website is well established and making some money.

However, I might take the profit of a month or two to further promote the business when it is well established

I think you should try out promoting it through social sites related to fashion and new trends like stylehive.com ect.

enuff with the jokes, alright! Well, I'd recommend you to build a squidoo page a hub page and a wet paint page aah let's not forget about zimbio too... and create content on these pages dedicated especially to your online store.

What this will do is it will hopefully expose your online store to more an more people thus enabling you to grab more readers by the eyeballs...

...and it would also be good for your store's SEO because you will have a link to your site on those pages which will be regarded as genuine backlinks and hopefully increase your PR...

I hope this comment is constructive enough for you... ;)

The promotion can be done like this

    1) Submission to search engines
    2) SEO
    3) Promoting your site in other sites by banners,
    4) Linking with communities related to your site
    5) Releasing small advertisements in sites related to textiles or trading

It seems that the shopping cart you are using is SEO friendly, take advantage of this and add more information for each product. Try to optimize each product individually, at the place of using Hoodie 01, Hoodie 02, Hoodie 03, etc try describing the product. Don't waste your time submitting to search engines spiders will come on their own, start a link building campaign, create a facebook ad and other PPC advertising do not forget about off line advertising!

I almost forgot. Add your products to nextag, shopping.com, shopzilla and all the shopping comparison sites you can find. Google, MSN and Yahoo also offer the option of adding your products to their "online stores".

Buy the book Marketing For Dummies. Seriously. You'll learn tons of ways to advertise your site, more importantly, you'll learn how to do it in an organized, effective way.

Hi. Congrats on your store! Now, you will need to do some marketing to get selling. First, look at what type of products you are selling, then find blogs, forums and other message boards that are related to that product. The more specific of the niche, the better:) Also, write a bunch of free classified ads. A lot of people feel they are useless, but they are so! :) Find a bunch of free classified ad sites that allow you to add your stores url link. I suggest Webclassifieds and Inetgiant to get started. If you want to go the extra mile, you could ping each classified ad to pinggoat and also, you can bookmark each classified ad to the top social bookmarks on SocialMarker. Good luck....oh and also, keep participating in forums like these. Adding your website's url in the signature can increase your page rank and traffic:)
