How to get more members and Links

Hi Ive started a new social networking site for professionals and would like to knwo what the ebst wya to Promote it will be? Its in my sig.

Im sending it out to work collegues and friends but was wondering if there are any other methods.

 

why dont you try to promote it via press releases

 

press releases to whom? I dont have much of a database of contacts yet

 

3 ways - Pay-per-click campaign that is highly targetted (geographically / keywords)- use Google for this and limit your budget. This is good for starting any website off.

Also use press release websites / comment on blogs for professionals (an intelligent comment will generally generate a click). And submit to Digg.com / Reddit / Mixx/ Stumbleupon / Ironit.org.uk etc (all social bookmarking / news websites)

The key to starting off is getting traffic quickly - the long term aim will be to build up backlinks with anchor text for your keyterms so that you will show up on first page at least in Google.

 

Thanks for that im not too sure about the addwords though because ive used it before and it hasnt really helped much. I'll do the others though

 

You could engage in Social Media Optimization. That will help you more.

Can you expand on that abit please. Do you mean pages liek facebook etc? or have i got the wrong idea

 

You can promote the site through article marketing.

 

Build some related links.. and do regular submissions in social sites and directories..

Search some good and related sites and send them ink exchange proposal... and do regular changes in site content.... article submission and directory submission is also good way to get back links.

Thanks guys. Im working on writting afew more articles this weekend. and will continue updating every weekend, thats the only time i really get to write articles up. I dont like to use other peoples id prefer to write my own
