i'm thinking about starting an seo contest, similar to Carcasherdotcom or V7ndotcom Elursrebmem. Do you guys think there would be interest? I'm leaning towards one big prize at the end rather than monthly prizes, thoughts? Cash prize(s) of $4000 would be given out (at least). 6 month contest or longer?

Having three winners will probably get more people to enter than just having one winner. Requiring a new domain and not allowing the keywords in the domain will crash the number of entries that you get!!!

i understand that requiring a new domain will deter people from entering, but don't you think that is the only way to make it fair?

i agree that multiple winners would be best.

    I`m in :D
A domain costs no more than $10, which means a few beers. ( don`t think i won`t drink those beers just to get the domain, i won`t eat ;) )

Um, no. The person who wins is who ever is the best at SEO....or dare I say, just has the best content. Heck, the winner of the v7n contest didn't even have a domain with the v7n keywords as the domain, just as a directory. And the domain wasn't very old, so it wasn't from the domain being say 10 years old.

Oh yah, who says life is fair!!! :D

the more i think about it, i'm really leaning towards forcing NEW domains. couple reasons (let me know if u guys agree):
    1. levels playing field somewhat?
    2. i think it really seperates the contest from the v7n contest, which will give us SEOers more ideas on how search engines work. I'm interested in how new domains rank these days. i think google takes age of site into account big time.

I second the idea of a new domain.
That will rule out the factor of using domains which are already out of sand box ;)
It will be nice to see SEO's fight to come on top and also avoid sandbox at the same time :p
I am in for this one:)
