If you ranked your link building methods from most important to least important, how would you rank them and how much time do you spend a day on each. Here is my list. 1. Aritcle Writing - daily - 2 hours 2. Forum Signature - daily - 1 hour 3. Blog Comments - daily - 1 hour 4. Bookmarking - daily - 30 minutes 5. Link Exchange with similiar sites - daily - 30 minutes 6. Directory Submissions - daily - 30 minutes 7. Adding new content to site and internal linking - daily - 30 minutes 8. RSS submissions - not everyday - around 30 minutes 9. Press Release - only when needed - 30 minutes Did I forget any? What order of importance and time do you spend on link building?
My linkbuilding is similar to yours, as article writing for disctribution and home content is my first. Unfortunatly, with a real life job, I am missing time, so I also do some blog commenting and directories submissions when I have time. What I do also, is check the backlink of competitors in yahoo explorer, then contact the webmaster of the site and ask them to include me.
I use most of the methods you have listed, but not in one day. My schedule is looking something like that - today forum sigs, next day dir subm.... Today is forum sig
Herm my websites are in my signature. I only started this schedule about two months ago, when before I had no structure at all. I just did it when I found time. However, what usually happen I would let it slide for too long before I got around to it. It is a family affair. My wife helps me with some of my link building since she gets half of our profits for her gardening hobby after the bills are paid. I don't do it all in one setting. The above order works for me because of my schedule. I'm a morning person and I do better writing articles in the morning. I keep a steno pad with me to make an outline of my articles before sitting down at computer. Anyone else want to share their methods...I keep wondering if I'm missing something important I should be doing. Here is my list again:
I don't really see any fault with your ranking, but you really spend 7 hours a day building links? Wow! I'm curious, how much time do you spend generating content? Are you seeing good results from that much time spent linkbuilding? With me, I have to spend most of my very limited time on content. Maybe you don't have a full time job though, let alone kids. When I have time for linking I'm usually doing bookmarking, followed by commenting with a little directory submission when possible.
llol good point dee, If i spent all that time building links I would have no time for hte site content, which is hte most important factor ! Woc
Mr.Dee. I start my day at 6am and end at midnight. Like I said, I don't do it all in one sitting and only been at this schedule for a few months. Maybe a year from now, my schedule will adjust, but not sure. I have a full time job and family (what motivates me) as well. I'm pretty organized and have everything bookmarked and automated as much a possible. I have been following DP threads for almost a year now. There are posts throughout by other DP veterans, that suggest they spend most of their time link building than any other marketing methods. Search and read DP and you will find plenty who spend 10 hours or more but they didn't break down how they rank their methods from most important to least or at least I didn't find any. Also, depending on the type of site, content updates may be more of a factor than it would be for other sites -- i.e. dating sties v.s. technology sites. So what may be most important for one site, may not be the case for another site. However, it doesn't hurt to explore what others do, no matter what their theme is. I'm always willing to learn.
Odd, most of the link builders I know would spend about 1/2 that time on link building for primary site, and spend the other 1/2 building peripheral sites (and promoting them), all of which point back to the main site....
I wish I had that much time per day to devote to link building and SEO. What types of automation tools are you using to try to help with your schedule?
hamish...some people have been banned or penalized by google for doing this (search DP forum). It has been called cross linking or interlinking. Of course, like anything, if you do it in moderation it may be ok, but go overboard and google will eventually find out. The problem is, google doesn't tell you what limits they place on cross linking. Of course if you have the time and money to update hundreds of sites to cross link to your main site without excessive cross linking, go for it. Hamish, I'm curious, since you know so many who do this, show me a site who cross links with success..... By the way, what method do they use to promote the other 1/2 peripheral sites? No matter if they are promoting one or a dozen other peripheral sites that point to their main site, it still equals time to promote to get traffic to their main site. Odd, you don't realize that. sithburns: firefox addons like SEO quake, autofill forms, CommentKahuna for blogs, Bookmarking automation from site and adding to firefox bookmark, favorite forums bookmarked in firefox, I created a wp marco for directory submissions, etc. Some of the things I do manually, but create several bookmark folders in firefox to help me stay on track. For example, I have folders labeled in firefox, SEO-1, SEO-2, etc and each folder has a number of tasks. Breaking it down in chunks makes it easier to keep track of my progress and not as tedious.
i am also not much organised and too much dedicated like this...but i do some work when i got some time.
All my problem to do the same for link building is the lack of time and some dis-organization. I too bookmark properly all the new links, popular blogs, forums, seo forums, dofollow forums, directories into different firefox folders. I have started only recently. Let me see how far I can go.
Article writing the by far the most effective, but you will find very few people who actually take the time to do it.
Hi Everyone, Does anyone have Linkexchange partners Email ids so i can mail them for linkexchange kindly mail me on this email id "wiseguy7770@gmail.com
wiseguy. I don't think anyone is going to post emails of users on a public forum. That wouldn't be ethical unless you had the user's permission.
When you say article writing, do you mean for your own site (in order to have more searchable content) or for other article sites like ezinearticles.com to get you "out there"? Sorry I'm a total noob...
