Is off page optimisation losing its importance ?Are we reaching a stage where the content will be the only major factor for ranking ? 1)Pagerank Factor is almost on its verge to lose its significance .If not totally then atleast one has to accept the fact that its not that vital factor now as it used to be few years ago. 2)Directory submission seems to be losing its significance .PR0 has nothing to offer now 3)Commenting does not seem to work like before and many of SEO/SEM experts count it as spamming . With the emergence of so many spammy techniques / repetetive tasks in Seo i believe we are reaching a stage where one can expect some major alteration in BIG G Algorithm . I have been hearing on Something called trust factor .Does the sites without many ads/(no add) tend to rank higher ? Is this something new ?
No i was not kidding .Slow link building seem to work better than the fast approach which is something new to notice .
I never said it does not work but i find many people emphasizing more on content rather than Killer link building techniques .
I agreed with @ jhn 2001 statement that slow is good. it follows the Google Guidelines as well. According to Google Link Building is counted as spam.
PR0 directories are not offering PR for your site but your SERP will improve. It become spamming when you are comment on unrelated sites.
you're kidding, right? That's like saying "I think that meat is losing its importance in meat pies. The pastry is becoming far more important'.
No9 No NO... off page optimization is still very important and significant...sorry but your views is totally incorrect...
Today's PR 0 is tomorrow's PR 4. There were many directories that I submitted to over one year ago (they were PR 0 or PR 1) have now become PR 2 and PR 3, one of them made PR 4. If the directory has good architecture (two clicks from main page for all sub-categories), Sorts results by Page Rank, and does a good job of rejecting spam.......it will eventually be a good link! Just use common sense. My best KW for a category heading is "Weddings" --- nearly every directory link with that sub-category has been counted by Google in Google Webmaster Tools.
I'd love it if we could keep this rumor going... it would make my job a lot easier if everyone else stopped caring about off-page.
No, off-page optimization is not loosing its importance, it is equally important as on-page optimization. The only thing is that the techniques should not be used in wrong manner. Apply the techniques with disciplined manner, it works positively.
off page still works...but i do think very fast link building isnt much appreciated by google....emphasis now is more on content..
That is a ridiculous question. Why on earth would Google want to emphasize what YOU say about your site's worth (content) rather than what OTHERS say about it (links)?
Off page signals like inbound links and the link text used to link to your site from other sites will likely ALWAYS be the mainstay of Google's ranking algorithm. As finazrael says, Google would always trust what other sites say about your site more than they trust what you have to say... Trust is a factor in the ranking algorithm. If you get caught trying to cheat the system and your violation is bad enough (like if you get caught selling links) your site will in all likelihood be flagged as "untrusted" which is going to make it VERY hard for you to rank for most any keyword. Many sites have seen this.. Cutts has talked about it on numerous occasions. Here is one such post just days ago: mattcutts.com/blog/sponsored-conversations/
