Jim4767: As far as I know, the free method is for non-commercial sites, you have to pay to submit commercial sites. However, my sites are Wordpress based and I submit my sitemaps for free to all the major search engines, including Yahoo, via a Wordpress XML compliant sitemap plugin. I got mine listed for free that way.
Unless you are a really big authority site and yahoo editors consider that it is a must to have your site in their directory there is no way to get a free listing.
as others have said, It's no longer possible anymore and you now have to pay jsut to be in their directory...
DMOZ.org and Yahoo! free submission both had been created for teaching the patience to businessmen and help social causes. (BTW non-retailer sites can get in frequently)
fortunately one of my site got listed way back. I am still trying for my other sites for the free listing option, but not getting through. I think they are not encouraging any more for free listing, the option available just for impression.
Don't know if they accept any sites but Yahoo Canadian directory show a free submission. http://add.yahoo.com/fast/add?76539+Canada
I think you'd better buy expired domains which are old enough and were included to yahoo directory before 2001.
Yeah it used to be free a few years ago, my host submitted my site to all of the engines with a nifty little script provided by them but yeah you can't do it anymore unless you pay.
