That's more true that I want to think about. It didn't take long to pass a couple of trillion in spending. The 2010 budget already has a $1.5 trillion deficit. The odds that we will go into a depression are now 30%. What's going to happen when the Dems raise that taxes on capital gains?
The progessive tax system is the problem. Tax everyone at the same rate and people will change their tunes real quick. Lets say that we have a 50% tax rate. The guy making 20k will be taxed 10k and he will start wondering if he can spend that money better than the government. With the current system, many people making 20k pay nothing and actually may even get 3k to 4k back with the earned income credit.
Wow, I always had a hunch but never looked into it, that the Dems were largely behind the ridiculous sub-prime debacle. Million dollar in largely Democratic districts with 100% interest-only loans for people 1 day out of bankruptcy made no sense to me but apparently they made cents to the Dems. The hunch was based on big donations I was hearing about from sub-prime principles and a lack of blame pointed towards the GOP.
The reality is all laid out here: http://detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080919/OPINION03/809190316/1322/OPINION0301 Just look up the "Report of the Special Examination of Fannie Mae" here: http://www.ofheo.gov CRA man... The irony here in this mortgage bailout that dipshit has devised... in order to be eligible for help on your mortgage, you must have Fannie or Freddie as a lean holder. You know, the same place that caused the sub-prime mess to begin with. The same governmental shithouse created by and continued by Carter and Clinton. And to think that people thought that Clinton was the greatest president in recent history. Here we find out that he was one of the key architects involved in the destruction of the housing market. Truth hurts, don't it!
IMO thats what happened to Bush... I am one of the few who think he wasn't THAT bad... He wasn't really dumb... He just talked like an idiot, and kinda got dealt some bad cards. But back to topic. I have been hearing the news saying that he is taking on to much, and from what I have been seeing he really isn't living up to all the hype. He was elected, in my personal OPINION, because of the media. The media made him seem like the second coming of Jesus. I have seen pictures all over the internet with his face on Jesus, and stuff like that. McCain really didn't have a chance, and I think he would have made a great president. But when you make someone out to be a hero you will be disappointed... I think that people will be regretting not paying attention to the issues. It seemed to me that people cared more about making 'history' then any actual change. Thats just my opinion though. BTW: I have not read the whole topic.
The fact remains that Rasmussen is a GOP pollster who tries to create positive GOP spun "news" with their polls. Right now the disinformation from the right is coming out at a fast rate. They will do anything to try and stop this President. This President who is actually trying to do the right thing. So sad after they've spent the last 8 years enabling the fool that got us into the place we are today. Sadly there are some people so deluded to actually blame what's happening now on Obama. It's hard to imagine that there folks actually that disconnected from reality, but they are out there. This is the Bush Recession (... Depression?) The Obama recovery is coming. Bush will go down in history as Obama's Hoover.
Ever since Obama was ahead in the polls last Sept. the stock market has been falling. The market is forward looking and doesn't like the Obama plan. I don't really believe a recovery is going to be engineered by a freshmen Illinois Senator, Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Christoper Dodd, and 'turbo-tax' Geithner.
Zibblu, it takes YEARS, not just 8, closer to 10, to put the economy where it is right now. That would place who in the presidency? Oh yeah, Clinton, the dem. Bush got dealt a bad hand. And did his best. He doesn't talk like an idiot. He talks like the average person from Texas does. With a little drawl. He talks like a real person. He doesn't try to be this uber king, messiah, whatever you wish to use when describing Obama, like Obama does. Obama was elected because of the LIBERAL media, not because he was the better candidate. He ran his campaign on empty promises. Change? What change? Have you seen his cabinet? Same old Washington insiders. Same old shit from Congress. He can veto a lot of things, but he doesn't. Why? Because he's a wimp that can't stand up to his own party when it comes to doing the right thing. He has 0 ability to work with the other side. He's been in office what? 2 months? And he's already spent how much money? And now, we're going to get taxed to kingdom come so he can pay for it. He's a socialist. He wants the government to control EVERYTHING. Big government is bad. I saw somewhere there are 22 states that will secede from the US if we get too far into the Socialist arena. Guess what? It won't be like the last civil war. Almost the entire military are conserviative. About 70% of the military that is conservative will desert and go to their states/the new country that is formed. Do you think liberals will join the military? Nope. Why? Because almost all liberals just want to the government to give them everything. No WORK ETHIC. One thing I give him props for though. His plan for withdrawel from Iraq is very good. BTW, all combat operations cease at the end of Aug next year, all troops are withdrawn by the end of next year. That doesn't mean 50k will be left there, it means they will be gone. He actually sat down with the Joint Chiefs and senior leaders in Iraq/CentCom. And they came up with the exit strategy. He actually listened to the military leaders and didn't try to just throw the "I'm the Commander in Chief and we will do what I say" card.
The Democrats have controlled Congress since 2004 and the Democrats even had control of the Senate in 2001.
And for every bad decision whilst in control, they will still blame Bush. Some people just don't get it...
I am no fan of Bush, but Obama shouldn't be grumbling about inheriting "Bush" legacy. He had a choice, he could easily opt not to bid for Presidency. No one forced him to be the President of the United States and as President, you assume all responsibilities, past, present and the future. If a President keeps pointing fingers, something is wrong somewhere.......
Agree 100%. I see this at my work all the time. People are so busy here trying to play the blame game that NOTHING gets done by Management. If only people would realize if you stop exerting so much effort into making sure the blame is not placed on you and actually put some effort into solving the root of the problem, then you can move on and get things done. Obama, Congress, hell every politican out there right now needs to stop now for the sake of our country....
