Yeah i used to love firefox...but the only real plus to firefox for me..wad the tabbed browsing..now that IE has a more than ample tabbed browsing system...im not fussed either way.

Why would anyone want to download that broken POS? A browser that can't run standard code from 11 years ago? A browser that can't handle XHTML? A browser that fails to handle most current modern web standards?

Why would anyone bother when ALL other browsers can handle XHTML, and current, modern standards and code? It makes no sense at all that anyone would use IE.

To be honest, I'd rather not know.

In fact, I'd rather not anyone know in hopes that it would slowly shrivel and make it's way into a museum of deceitful browser incompatibilities.

Just downloaded it and installed took 25 minutes. Fire Fox is so much better than explorer. Instantly developer add-on I had does not work any longer. The only time I ever use explorer is when I am checking for browser compatibility.

I won't want to try out a release candidate :) . IE can be a pain in the neck with its stable version, can't imagine what a release candidate may be like.

Guess what guys, if you're a webmaster then you know that most of your users use IE and most of them will switch to IE8 so you're gonna need IE8 to make sure your site is displayed properly in IE8.

Thanks for the heads up chimp

For the same reason you posted. To give heads up to those unaware of what a lousy, antiquated browser it is.
You're the one throwing the tantrum.

IE 8 and Gmail is horrible - I know - I have always stuck with IE and I dont know if it is IE8 fault or Gmail fault. Google never bothers about supporting IE in Gmail which is my most used web app. But IE8 seems faster than IE7, and I also tried Chrome for a day and threw it out the next day - too bad Google is not good in writing browsers. Total usability failure in Chrome. Have many points including an automatic update which you cant control. But firefox seems faster than IE7 to me but there is nowhere to click on when you want to open new tab and you have to press Ctrl+T for that

You need to do some configuration in FireFox. Just click Tools and select Options. Then click on Tabs and tick the Always show the tab bar check box. Now all you need to do is right-click the tab bar and select New Tab. IE7's new tab interface is easier though :)

Or, right click on the toolbar and select 'customize'. There you'll find a button for "new tab" which you can drag to the toolbar. Now you have something to click on.

IE has a pretty bad track record in the past and even the stable versions were really not stable! Why do you want to take risk with a release candidate?

I would wait for a standard version to release and even little longer after that, till I get some good positive reviews on it.

Thanks anyway, for the pointer that something is going on at IE !

    Regards,

    RightMan

If your only reason to start the thread was to inform, then why did you comment about Firefox afterwards but then knock me for commenting about IE? You're a hypocrit and childish with the name calling. YOU can comment about the browsers but no one else can, eh?
