HeLLo World! I just got a Question. you might be using a desktop computer or a laptop at home, i would like to know that what is the maximum recorded duration that your computer remains on.. either you are working on it or not. This is just to check the capicity of a computer that how long it last without trouble while it is constantly powered on.. My one is 1 day then i turned it off.. (A DESKTOP) WHILE the laptop of mine for 5 hours. i didnt let it on for more then that uptill now.
i have a laptop and it remains on for more than 10 days many a times...although i know it is going to affect my laptop badly but i just forget to shut it off..may be i am too lazy!!!
I used to run my PC 24/7. I guess about 2 weeks uptime was the most I ever got out of it without a reboot (thank you Windows ). Current uptime : cmd > systeminfo 2 days, 4 hours, blablabla People running their own *nix servers will have crazy uptime.
yeah - about 18 hours for the laptop - and 24/7 on the desktop = and it usually runs for about 2 weeks - but maybe the longest was about 1 month Vista on both
As long as I need it for normqally 8 - 10 hours. When I used to run an IRC bot from my PC, I had it running for almost 8 months without a shut down. Got exceptionally good at installing programs and working round their need to shut down afterwards lol. It is a good idea though not leave your machine on 24 hours a day and give it at least one shut down where possible. I have servers here that have not been rebooted in about 3 months
In Countries where room temperaure is more then 30 degree centigrades if you let your laptop on for more time it possibly demages intigrated circuts ICs because it creats heats which cannot be controlled with the heat sinks attached with conventional laptops.
