who told you that cross link and reciprocal link is the one and the same thing??? reciprocal link means when two sites exchange links but cross linking is a different scenario altogether. suppose a person has 20 sites on different domains. out of those 20 sites not more than 3-4 sites will be used for the lead generation. now his strategy will be to increase the link popularity of those 3-4 sites as well as to divert the traffic from the other satellite sites to the main sites. in order to do so he will cross link all the 20 sites in such a way that will help to increase the popularity of those 3-4 main sites.
