I'm here in hong kong for a couple days for a visa thing so i can go back to china. Anyhow while im here im sitting in the boss' office and enjoying a nice internet connection. Right now i'm downloading a file at 600 kb per second anybody else out there with a fast dl rate? whats the fastest you've ever downloaded at before?
Actually, I am currently on a 150Kb/51.2 Kb connection. Commonly know as Broadband or ADSL. For us Auusies. a 1500/512 connection
I'm on broadband via the cable tv network, 8Mbit dl, 1Mbit ul. It's not often I find a server that can push things that fast to me but I've seen dl speeds slightly over 1000 kbyte/sec (1 Mbyte/sec is the theoretical maximum without compression that is)
Currently at: 2.5 megabits per second 1MB file download: 3.4 seconds http://www.bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/ I've seen it as high as 3.x on a good day and I've had multiple downloads hit over 500kbps simultaneously. Sure beats the old days of having dial up AOL
lol... i thought the rest of the world were ahread of the UK... i've got 2x10meg blueyonder services hooked up together with software on my pc to give just under 20meg... Fastest download speed here is about 2040k/sec (2 Mega BYTE a second) Fastest ive had was when i used to work for NCR (national cash register). Fuck knows what connection they had, but early morning and weekend when noone was in you could get 50 meg easy... almost forgot... still got a shitty upload of 348 i think (maybe they've upped it to 512).... with that i get about 45k/sec
Am on a 10mb link right now at home. In theory I can get to 24mb link but in my connection settings I chose stable link rather than the superduper crazy fast setting which apparently isn't as stable - ADSL2 rocks!
My fastest download is 5kb/sec if I'm lucky. I'll reply again next month when I'm at my university which houses an OC-3 connection.
