This is about the only useful post in this thread.

For toothache, I have found Ibuprofen to be the only thing that worked. In my case the product I used that contained Ibuprofen was NuroFen. You can ask you chemist for an Ibuprofen product.

Toothaches can happen at any time and are usually the result of an underlying dental problem. It’s important to see a dentist as soon as possible when a toothache occurs to determine the cause and receive treatment to alleviate the pain. If a toothache is left untreated, the pain and symptoms could become worse. Here are some tips to help reduce toothache pain temporarily until a dentist can be seen. But you must promise me that you will see your dentist tomorrow ok..!

Try to gently floss in between the sore tooth to remove any food debris or particles that may be lodged there.

Also, rinse your mouth out with warm salt water.

You can apply oil of cloves or an over the counter antiseptic that contains benzocaine directly onto the gums or tooth. Both of these act as a numbing agent to temporarily relieve pain. Never place anything else such as aspirin or other pain relievers near the tooth or on the gum because they can cause the gum tissue to burn.

A cold compress can be applied to the facial area if a trauma has occurred, to reduce pain and swelling.

Please keep in mind that these tips are in no way intended to substitute professional dental care and are provided for emergency purposes only to help alleviate toothache pain until a dentist can be seen....

    1. Try to enjoy the feelings.
    2. Take a sleeping pill+pain killer > go to bed > wakeup > visit doctor

Ok, well i just got back from the dentist, shes put some dressing on the filling to temporarily stop the toothache, but i have 2 choices, i either have to have the tooth completely taken out OR have a root filling which will cost £275! But i think having the tooth taken out will be so much more painful, not sure what to do!

You are being prayed for. And also, my philosophy is: spare nothing when it comes to the dentist or dental medicine. Spend every dime it takes to go to a great dentist and get whatever treatment is necessary. It's worth it!

It's along way to go for 1 tooth!

275 quid for a filling are they having a laugh! How much to take it out?

Have a read of this article at the BBC, amazing!

Its not a normal filling, its a root filling, meaning they have to kill the nerve underneath the tooth but drilling down into it, its either this or get my tooth ripped out completly! which aint too appealing

Pineapple juice. If you drink enough of it in a short period of time the whole inside of your mouth will become numb.

I know. When I need dental work, I always drink about 3 or 4 quarts of juice about an hour before. By the time I get to the dentist, the inside of my mouth is numb. And I don't need any shots or painkiller while at the dentist, not even for root canals. After leaving, I keep a quart of juice with me. Whenever I start to feel pain, I drink some more and the pain goes away.

One caveat - It MUST be PURE pineapple juice with NO ADDITIVES and NO other juices. If there is added sugar, your pain will INCREASE.

It is good to see a fellow fan of this product, it works wonders. I remember now that it is Nurofen Express (which contains the ibuprofen)! It has helped me with toothache, but even now I am suffering from a bad cold with sore throat/headache etc and these Nurofen tablets have even been helping me today a great deal. It's just a shame I left them at home whilst being at work.:(

    :)
