I changed from a subdomain site.free.net to my very own domain site.net, my old subdomain have a high page rank and a lot of visitors more then 800 a day, now I lost that all and my new domain is unknown, the old subdomain is closed by the hosting company, is there any how to edit my url and change it in google ? I know it's stupid ...but..I need to do something about it .
You would have to do a 301 redirect with an .htaccess file and since you no longer have access to the subdomain, there's nothing you can do.
Your page rank is lost, but you might be able to get some of that traffic back to your new site. If you create a page that says, "site.free.net has moved to newlocation.com", then if you create a few links on your domain that have the words "site.free.net has moved to newlocation.com" in the anchor text and the link to your homepage, then you might have a chance. Keep in mind that this will only help you to recover a very small portion of your lost traffic. Some of the people who land on the closed page might be inclined to search for your site in Google so that they can use the cached version of the page for reading purposes. If the people do a search on your old free site url, then if you have your redirct page built, then they will be able to click on that link and go to your current domain. This technique requires people to go to the search engines to find a cached copy of your pages. I do go to the search engines for cached copies of pages... sometimes. It really depends on how much I was wanting to read the copy that is now gone. If the desire is high, I will do the additional work to find it. Bill Platt
