Time for some sticky goodness?

Ok let me start by saying I love DP, I only registered a short while ago so I could post in the contests forum and get some work done, however I am now thoroughly addicted.

That said there is one thing that seriously bothers me on this forum and it is the lack of stickies in useful places?

Eg sure in the contests/buying/selling forums there should be stickies explaining how to post correctly in there eg:

When requesting work to be done, explain what the work is in the post rather than asking people to PM you.

Also in the SEO forums, how about a sticky on the obvious things to do, DMOZ, Google submit etc

There are loads of other forums that could do with these stickies to help keep the forums organised and stop people making the same mistakes and asking the same questions over and over.

    keep up the good work

People do this? All the threads I've seen in contests thoroughly explain what the job involves.

There are many ways to achieve SEO and I wouldn't declare either of those things as "obvious".

Of course I went looking for examples, but couldnt find any lol..... It does happen a lot though, I am new I realise but just in the short time I have been here I have noticed tons of threads where the poster gives no detail or insufficient detail

    One example: http://that1design.com/testforum/

No SEO is never obvious, but for utter noobies, information on how to submit to Google, DMOZ etc and information on how to use keywords, meta tags and backlinks to improve your rankings etc are all pretty standard stuff, no?

Well you just proved how unnecessary a sticky would be. It would be solving a problem that doesn't exist.

The only problem with stickies is, members don't even bother to read them.

For example this 7 Day Bans Are Here In Buy Sell Trade Forums! stickies. How many members are willing to spend a few seconds of their time to read this. More and more members are banned because they don't even care with the stickies. Including myself sometimes. :p

I know what you mean I have the same issue on my forums however not all users are the same and I for one would read them.

Also even if they dont read them it saves someone having to type it out again and again, they can instead give a link to the sticky instead

As was said, members tend not to read stickies anyway. For the most part, they're reserved for things like new rules pertaining to a section. With the examples you gave, in the SEO one professionals disagree about tactics all the time, including the relevance of DMOZ, and there's absolutely no reason for the DP staff to attempt to take a stand on such things. As for contests or anything else in BST, we don't require that people post all information in the thread (some prefer not to for privacy reasons and prefer PMs), so any sticky that could possibly imply otherwise would be inappropriate.
