I tend to agree here. Initially I thought it was going to be a lot bigger than it has actually turned out. I have never once seen a .me in a search result - and SOMEONE out there must have a fully developed .me authority site by now. The only one I know of is funk.me - and they're a .me auction site! (so that kind of doesn't count )
Like all investments, it takes time to build momentum. And it depends on who is building that momentum at what speed. I agree with the statement. I initally thought dot me might not take off due to its montenegro extension, but then they decided to advertise it globally without restrictions. Then I thought it would takeover dot Asia. But it didn't, however they do have a good strategy of rolling out auctions for reserve names to be sold off at different time period to build momentum. I see that funk me site too, it looks just like mine, except a tone down version. And traffic is going down. Huge. (not a good sign)
if a .me is what you want, than buy the domain It's all what you make of it, if you develop the domain, it can be great
I agree Loco.M, I just found a FIRSTNAME.ME available for registration, I just with I had LOCO.me lol
this is beceuse domain name extension .me is new it is domain name extension of Montenegro and this tiny country gained independence like 1 year a go You will see .me more in following months I can bet ....
Good post. If you are buying the domain as an investment, then be prepared to stick it out for some time. If you are buying the domain to use, then .me is a good choice with many very brandable names to choose from.. It won't be that way in ten years time. Search "notify" you should see one. I have an undeveloped .me that is #4 for the term "plastering me" Just found that out while reading this thread. I may have others as well, haven't checked. I doubt that term gets searched much, and probably has no competition but it does go to show that they do turn up in the SERPs. (sometimes without trying) I guess its up to the developer of the site to get it to rank for there targeted keywords, not the extension Having a keyword domain certainly helps. On top of that they are memorable and brandable. Why would you wait till there was a demand for them? Wouldn't that lessen your chances of getting the one you want? I say, get em while ya can. Cheers James
They are decent but I think overpriced and not really good for everyday use, now if your a hardcore blogger it might be a good choice, but in my opinion 95% of the time they are pointless to buy.
.ME tops other industry risers and leaders, beating .ASIA and .MOBI with the growth of 40% and 30% per month respectively. According to onlinecasino.org , by the end of 2008, Alexa’s top one million websites contained: 341 .ME sites 233 .MOBI sites 86 .ASIA sites Considering that .MOBI was launched two years before .ME and .ASIA four months before .ME - .ME is, without any doubt, the unrivalled leader of 2008. http://dot-me.of-cour.se/2009/01/03/number-of-me-pages-enjoys-the-fastest-growth-in-2008/
Do I have the site ready for MakeFriendsWith.Me? Nope, not yet. Something I should do soon really, when I can find the time. All of these development projects, like many others, multitasking as fast as possible. I'm glad you like it by the way. It could be for sale of course as I said, if the right offer came along. Anyone interested? Or do you have any good development ideas? I'm all ears.
Personally, I think you will get a good price tag for that domain. Did you try auctioning it. If you wish to develop the domain, use a good dating script. Try vldPersonals. Its one of the best dating scripts on the net.
I've never tried auctioning it, no. I use a similar style of domain for my blog site, which you'll find from my last positive reputation comment left for you, for the above kind remarks. Wishing you a superb week and again, many thanks for your positivity.
Dot me beating dot Asia? Think again. Dot Asia is the future. Dot me well its about you and the registry in montenegro.
Well those are the facts, .asia will eventually catch up but it will be quite sometime before more people adapt this ccTLD.
All Tlds have same value in point of a search engine, excepting gov and edu ones wich might be higher so go ahead and get it
i wouldnt buy a dot me right now either. I have never saw one rank in google. I read some where they would not show up in the US in any of googles data centers? its like dot travel - I thought that one would be great, but i have never saw one in google either
