What's the best way to use domain aliases?

    Let's say I have a website, let's call it ItalianFood(dot)com.

    Now, I also own other domain names, Italian-Food(dot)com, ravioli(dot)com, ziti(dot)com, pasta(dot)com.

Instead of building new websites around these domain names, I want them to redirect to ItalianFood(dot)com (so, all the same IP address). But I don't want to be penalized for duplicate content.

Can anyone tell me, what is the best way to alias these domains for SEO purposes?

    Simply permanently (301) redirected to ItalianFood(dot)com .
No duplicate content penalty at all.

    Still better:
Build ravioli(dot)com, ziti(dot)com, pasta(dot)com with own content and own backlinks
then put links from these sites to ItalianFood(dot)com :)

Is a 302 (temporary) redirect more search engine friendly than a 301 (permanent)?

some circles, say that keyword rich domains do not count, other state that yes they do....

my experience is that for a business then you have your brand website which is then redirected to the keyword rich domain...

one reason for not having a keyword rich domain it is hard to explain to someone your domain name when you have hyphens int the domain name.. hence the reason why you redirect your brand name website to the kw rich website

also to avoid your duplicate content then have english on one site and italian on the others...

Anyone that states that a keyword rich domains do not count, has absolutely no idea how to achieve top search-engine rankings. I'm surprised that anyone would even suggest it.

Then, don't use a hyphen. Duh.

This is just an example. This isn't about Italian food.
