Well you could make it simple and just go with us, just kidding. (If I get a infraction for this I'll be mad, especially since we don't offer VPS's)

Anyways, look for stability, flexibility, and reviews. With shared hosting you can get away with a lot, but with a VPS it's hit or miss.

I won't lie, I've heard pretty good things about TmzHosting, on multiple forums. (Popular ones)

Don't got for a VPS for under $20 with those specifications, as it will be most likely gone or junk in two - three months.

What's your budget? Have you looked at Westhost, Liquidweb, Lunarpages, A2hosting for VPS.

In my post I said, I am not looking for a cheap plan.

Looking for quality - so, price is not a factor.

    Thanks

you should join up webhostingtalk.com - they have a section dedicated to VPS offers, I'm sure you'll be able to find good ones, it's a lot better than DP for web hosting :)

IF you want reliability, go with a XEN based VPS, not openvz/Virtuozzo. This is because with XEN resources are pre-allocated, so overselling is not possible. With virtuoozo/openvz, there is no per-vps swap, so proccesses may be killed, or start to run very slow, as all VPS's share one kernel.

Definitely Liquidweb. I was in your same situation a few years ago looking for a managed VPS -- I signed up with Liquidweb over 2yrs ago and they have been absolutely incredible. I have never had to wait more than a few mins for a response to a support ticket. I pay around $50 a month.
