I had just updated the nameservers of my domain yesterday. I checked who.is and it shows the changed nameserver. But still my site is not loading. I heard it takes 24 hours atleast. How am I to keep track of its status?

Strange, perhaps the nameservers have changed, but your host hasn't updated them yet. Some hosts are slow I think... mine usually update instantly though with godaddy as the registrar and host monster as the host.

Propogation can take up to 72 hours, any quicker than that and it's a bonus. You need to get hold of a browser like Maxthon where you have a page auto refresh to you don't have to keep checking manually.

when i move a site and change name servers, i make a small change at the new place, so when i see that change, i know dns has propagated. at least for me.

You can track if it's been implemented by checking http://member.dnsstuff.com/pages/tools.php

Also, generally, querying the domain after 4-6 hours from a internet connection in a different country for the first time ever from that connection will resolve it to the new nameserver.

For most registrars its instant while for others it may take up to 24-48 hours. You can check it at www.dnsstuff.com, a very popular site.

A very satisfactory reply. Will contacting the host help solve the problem?
