How is this major site getting away with 5 adsense units on one page? They are probably using frames but how are tey getting away with it for so long? They are not a premium publisher as they are using standard ad units and formats http://www.slipperybrick.com/2009/03/mitsubishi-releases-wd3300u-and-xd3200u-projectors/
Sorry topnacth Services... but I cannot see the five adsense units. I saw 3 ad units and 1 link unit. Where are the rest? Are they the ones that are not clearly mark as Google Ads at the bottom? JulieV
I also see three ad units and one link unit. The other units are serving TribalFusion ads. I don't see a violation here.
I actually see 7 adsense ad units there... 2 wide skyscrapers, 2 large recs, 2 full and 1 half banners.
1st - right at the top of the page - half banner 2nd - half banner underneath post title 3rd - skyscraper on the right 4th - Large rectangle underneath post tags 5th - Large rectangle underneath the 4th adsense unit 6th - just spotted - banner at the bottom (just above the 'Other Blogs In the Topic Soup Network' block) They also have one link unit on the right hand side but I am not counting that as it is allowed I think This blog has an alexa ranking of sub 20k. Google must have come across it Having browsed a few more pages, I think they are using some kind of adserving script as the number of units changes depending on what page you are on. It still doesn't change the fact that on many pages they are serving more than 3 ad blocks
I can only see 4 ads on that page. I opened up the HTML source and only counted 4 occurances of their pub-id in the HTML source. Unless they are using frames?
They must be to get over 3 adsense blocks showing up. I guess with the ad-management and frames, they can get away with it as not everybody sees the same thing
1st - right at the top of the page - half banner (Its a tribal fusion banner) 2nd - half banner underneath post title (adsense ad) 3rd - skyscraper on the right (No skyscraper on right... there is a tribal fusion skyscraper ad on the left) 4th - Large rectangle underneath post tags (google public service ads, he doesnot make anything, even if you click on that) 5th - Large rectangle underneath the 4th adsense unit (adsense ads) 6th - just spotted - banner at the bottom (just above the 'Other Blogs In the Topic Soup Network' block) (its not an adsense ad... some other CPA network ads) 7th - there is a skyscraper on the left (adsense ads) That means he has.... 3 adsense ad unit, 2 tribal fusion ads, 1 CPA ad, 1 google public service ads... Though he is allowed to use only 3 instance of google ad unit, he has used it 4 time... but google is smart enough to only serve 3 ads + one unit it is showing public service ads... Plus... 1 google link unit (he is allowed to use 2) Based on the above ... he is very much inline with the google adsense policy... TopNotchServices, you need to learn some more in distinguising between ads from various ad service provider Hope that helps everyone.. Ani
Ani, if you learn to read the entire thread you will realise that the site has frames and an ad-manager which means that they rotate ads from different providers and, on some pages, they do indeed have 6 adsense blocks Hope that helps
I can see 4 Adsense Ad unit directly placed into the html and one of them is commented.. The rest are delivered with OpenX Ad Server. Am I missing something?
I think that we can all agree that this site uses an admanager and on some posts they violates Google TOS as the admanager will server more than 3 adblocks If google turns a blind eye to this, lucky for them but I wonder how many smaller sites would get away with this?
Hi Everyone, I run SlipperyBrick.com and it looks like you have done a pretty good job of breaking down the different ad networks we run with as well as picking up on the OpenX server! Nice. We've been pretty careful about sticking within the rules and any Adsense TOS violation would definitely not be deliberate. Adsense does pretty well for us so we use it when we can, and it is a default in a "chain" from other networks such as the aforementioned Tribal fusion along with a little Burst Media. We also stick in some Adsense text links which don't count towards the whole and have some direct ads from our Adserver. Also, depending on whether or not traffic comes from an organic search or not will trigger different ads from Chitika or Amazon based on search phrase. I am not aware of a scenario that produces ads in violation of the TOS for any of these networks, however if you notice one please let me know and we will address it. Thanks! -Darrin www.slipperybrick.com
Hey, may be a screenshot would help here? The ads might be rotated. For me currently, it is indeed a violation of AdSense terms. There are more ad blocks than allowed.
I think the site is not violating Google TOS. The uppermost and the lowermost banner are from tribalfusion. To find this, right click on the banner image and select "view frame source" if you are using FF. It will show you ads by tribalfusion written. I see adsense ads in these areas: 1. 1 text ad below the post title. 2. 1 text ad below the post 3. 1 text ad in the left sidebar, and 4. 1 link ad in the right side bar. So, the site is not violating any Google TOS IMHO. You might have confused the other banners with adsense my dear. _____________________________________________________________ Wait, I just visited the site again, and it showed me a different ad in the lowermost banner. It is in a flash format and resembles google ad that I see on my sites at times. ____________________________________________________________ Hey, now I see another ad on the topmost banner shows google written in it when I hover on it. The bottom ad is also google now. wth??
http://hackaday.com/ has 7 units on one page. They are using Google Ad Manager (and one manual Adsense ad), maybe ad manager doesn't count ads when it falls back on Adsense?
