I had a situation with my neighbor. I sent a note to the Association and it was privately commented on. Never happened again. Yes, yes. I understand the definition. Just like General Michael Maple understood the technical defintion of what a WMD was...but in your case you didn't agree with it (despite what we've yet to really know), and in this case I fail to see it's importance. Coming from you, whom said, 'I said it before and I'll say it again - individuals rights are more important than anything.'...it's just odd for you to seemly defend the right of a government that continuely goes against what you deem is more important than anything. If individual rights are 'more important than anything', then why would you hold highly the rights of dictator whom makes a career out of destroying other people's individual rights? That doesn't make sense. It's like calling a girl a whore and ask her to marry you in the same sentence...it just doesn't work. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=1076995&postcount=8
compuXP.... I'm not hating on you, I love the USA don't get me wrong there. I did not attack you with my words, but the current government of the USA. USA did save my own country, a whole other country was it back then. Thank you for that. (not you compuXP, you got nothing to do with that). The weapons are there partly to protect you, and partly to attack other countries. For example, Iraq, you used weapons to attack and not to defend. There was no reson to attack, no weapons of mass destruction. Anyway watch your temper Peace out
I think it would be a lot easier on most people's eyes if you indentified that specifically...when you first wrote it. The confusion may have not existed. JMO. What country are we talking about? Curious as to why another (person in a) country finds interest in our actions....? I mean has it effected you in some way, physically? I don't feel it's all that appealing, personally, but it does have fiscal effect on my government and people I know. I don't understand why others feel such a great concern...not saying your feelings aren't or are valid, I'm just curious.
I was talking about the Netherlands back in the world war 2. Why I have a great concern is that the american government is attacking countries for nothing else than oil, telling people a lie to get approval. But in other places in the world, who are in need for help of a country like the USA. For example Rwanda, are ignored. More than a million people were brutally murdered, and the american Government acted like they don't care. It happened a few times: Iraq, the Kurds were left alone after a failed war, left to be brutally tortured and murdered by Sadam. Former Yugoslavia: At least they helped them out here, but they had to act faster. 200 000 were murdered, by the way I dont blame only the USA for this. And so on... The USA is just fighting the wrong wars, you feel me now?
Carefull with the expression ''a handfull'' , some people may think you can actually hold it litteraly in 1 hand How ridiculous this may sound.
Look... it's not like I'm fond of Kim-shorty-Il.. and what he (and many many other countries) to do their people is a disgrace to humanity. And if you want to use that as a justification for taking action, then we can talk about that. But we're talking about something different here. This isn't about individuals rights - this is about the United States effectively "bullying" North Korea over having any kind of military strength. If you want to start talking about defending human rights - we should be in Africa right now (actually a decade ago) helping the people who have genocide committed against them on a daily basis. Or we should be picking a fight with china, etc. Is that realistic? Can we actually save everyone from big bad governments? It's unfortunate, but I really don't think so...
Any kind of military strength? How misleading and inaccurate is that? "If the United States attacks North Korea, we will launch a nuclear attack." Who is bullying who? What threats were made to North Korea?
No, the african countries where genocide is taking place effectively have no government or infrastructure. They are ran by gangs and warlords.
All things considered, this dude test fired scud like short range missles like the ones that the Iraqi's had. They can reach Japan. When the Iraqi's used them during Desert Storm the interceptors were only partially successful. I have no idea if our technology has improved significantly to do a better job with the short range missles, let along the long range one. This is a huge provocation from a madman. Basically no country seems to have a fix on this guy, let alone the Chinese, who seem to be the closest things to friends/allies he has. I hope Bush radically expands his advisors on this one, since his track record to date on making decisions has to bog down the military and country in a f*cked up war, that, in retrospect, was falsely developed, and poorly carried out. The war part worked allright for Bush, but the aftermath has been a total disaster for America, Iraq, and any policy decisions we hoped to implement. Dave
A wise bird once observed that, "Those that don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it"! - or some such wisdom... "Every country in the world is now capable of doing harm" -- by sitting on the sidelines and doing nothing while monsters on most continents continue to bully and threaten their peaceful neighbors. Fellow, you should do this daily, if you are a God-fearing person: Thank God that cowboys like Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush faithfully executed the solemn duties of their offices - by acting with wisdom & vigor to protect our nation and the entire world from the destruction posed by sworn enemies. Next, you need to seek out a good library and study what the benign neglect of past world leaders invited when they failed to challenge the Hitlers (and their ilk) of the world -- throughout history.
There was also a long range one tested; but it failed. That one could reach the US with a small payload. Its kinda firing blind though, so no one would be sure where it'd hit. Its just a step in the wrong direction. N Korea has so many internal problems - a starving populace, a dead infrastructure, among other things. One has to wonder why so much energy is being expended on a military program. If the leader(s) would focus on internal matters, no one would bug them.
You know how it is with these people that think mustard and sarin are nothing more than a handful of grenades. BDS runs rampant, with shouts of "bush lied, people died," and all forms of reason cease to exist! Only the message matters! To be honest, I don't know how you deal with people like this, but I admire your efforts
Yeah, how could I not mention the long range missle. Man now that is a serious weapon. Even as it failed one commentator said that scientists learn by their mistakes. That clearly is true when it comes to missles. Gotta deal with this madman one way or the other. He is a danger throughout Asia and to the US.
It would be nice if I heard the full picture from you sometime. Things like this make you sound balanced. But we aren't talking of something different. Why would we give any special rights to any dicator? Mind you, I don't think we should be attacking all the dictators of the world, but I don't believe they deserve ANY special rights. I'll disagree with you on this.... atleast on the bullying part, as we're just making sure a leader whom spend his life desiring power over others doesn't have power over us. Fidel and Kim aren't really separate by that much but miles from America's mainland, and JFK couldn't stand for that kind of threat...neither should we. It's bad enough that China and the fairly corrupt russia still has weapons, but a geniune effort at diplomacy with those two countries is a lot more possible (and has been for a while). I think we should continuely talking with them, but they have to be willing to even talk. I can't accept a 'live and let have missile with nuke' theory, with this kind of nation. Do you trust Kim? You hear that often...the whole we should be in Africa thing. What's odd is you would think that America or other countries would be interested, since there's a boat load of oil/natural resources there, too. Of coarse it's not realistic to save everyone, but that's not justification to given dictators special rights. I know you don't like the hitler comparison...but Hitler at first, had no real limits set upon him, and he didn't always seem like the threat. So he pushed the barrier, again, again, and again...till he realized his barriers were few if any. People like him have to have barriers. Standards like that should apply to any country and any leader....atleast addressing an issue that seems to be unsettling, depending on the circumstance. Mind you, I'm not a fan of China, but it's been making real effort towards freeing it's market.....and while I believe the government will always want a huge role in their people's lives, it will get increasingly hard as a middle class comes to be. I figure...atleast they're moving forward. The gauge or degree in which we deal with these countries SHOULD be honest and consistant. Obviously it isn't. Although it's not a 'live and let live' vs 'attack them' spectrum...those are two extremes. We should always live in the middle with our neighbors, and for dictators we should lean to the right of that spectrum (because it's an honest assesment),....but we should always be prudent in force.
