I've submitted a total of 28 articles for this project now, one of the recent ones is getting a lot of traffic to the site but unfortunately that hasn't converted to a sale yet. I'm still at 6 net sales. One good sign is that yesterday I had 82 unique visitors to my review site (where all of my articles are linking to.) Most of that traffic is directly from EZ but some of it is coming from search traffic which is another important aspect of article marketing - the long term SEO benefits of getting those links back to your sites.
Ezine does convert .. if articles are highly optimized.. there`s no point in submitting junk articles.
Good to see you back Zibblu. Hope you will get much better results with your experience in the future.
Thanks for taking the time to share the precious info with us, Zibblu! If it weren't for guys like you newbies like me wouldn't stand a chance in this shark-eats-fish world! I salute you, Sir! Hmm, that sounded a little bit dramatic and poetic at the same time.
I finally made another sale with this EZA experiment today. It was the 8th total sale although one of those was refunded so really just 7 net sales. I've submitted about 35 EZA articles. Affiliates now make $36 per referral so that would be $252 for those 35 articles as an affiliate. Not great but not awful. Of course you must consider that those articles should continue to make sales (even if it's just one every 2 months) and so your total ROI is better than it may seem at first. I'm hoping for increased conversions now that I'm working on improving the sales-letter. I am going to get back to this project and get at least to the 75 article mark (my original goal.) A part of the goal of this project is to also get my site search engine traffic because of these articles and I am getting some search engine traffic from Google.
Good job Zibblu, keep rolling out the articles and I'm sure you'll hit your goals. You're at what like $7 per article. that's as much or more than you would make doing freelance article writing so you can't complain about that too much.
Actually I'm at $10 per article as I'm the publisher so I get the 30% along with the 70% But I'm trying to look at this from an affiliate's point of view. I want to make my product something that affiliates can do well with. So part of what I'm trying to do with this project is figure out what works so I can pass that along. I'm also trying to figure out what I can do to improve conversions.
$10 per article isn't bad at all for some niches - weight loss especially is extremely competitive. I aim for $25 per article (on average) but one of my niches in particular converts very well with article traffic.
This thread has been dormant for awhile but I have an update: I'm up to 9 net sales with this experiment. After 2 months with nothing there's been a sale in each of the last 2 days. I've still yet to get to adding anymore articles or finishing the rest of the content pages on my review blog. ... Indeed, I have a serious lack of focus. But overall I'm pretty pleased with 9 net sales from the 35 articles so far. That's 9 net sales from 10 total sales - 1 refund. The affiliate account I set up for this experiment now has $275 in it.
Funny this thread popped up! I'm doing nearly the exact same thing right now http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1249321 My experimentation log starts at something like post #5 or #7.
Great experiment Zibblu. You can certainly bang out the articles! That is a lot of writing. Keep it up. lol just seen this thread is a few years old.lol Whats the latest? How did the experiment go?
Can you hit us with an example of how you made the landing pages? Did you have more content on them Was it a mix of content on that keyword leading to the afflink, or Was it pretty much a straight-up call to action presell without beating around the bush at all? An example or two would be amazing but I understand if you don't want to share!
Salam n Hola Awesome experiment Zibblu. Thanks for putting this up in here for all of us to learn from it as well. Reading this has motivated me to beef up on my article writing. I'm certainly going to apply this for my affiliate landing pages. Regards Hadee Roslan Rolex Watch, and other Luxury Items for Only $1 Best Deals Lenovo Ideapad S10 Netbook
Great work - I am also starting out with bum marketing and when things seem a bit low - it's refreshing to read such journals to see people are doing real well. Keeps me motivated
