I want to share what has happen. I have been ordering several programs from different venders here. Yesterday, google would not let me in! They said I was spamming from my IP! (I was not- have not started using any programs yet) I went to the google page, followed their instructions and discovered that I had been hacked by two people! I also had a fresh trojan horse. For what ever reason, my virus protection did not catch them. Now I have added a malware program, Spybot, that has shut them down. Google has now let me back in. What can I say? Should I be concerned that someone has hacked me?
Depends on what skills you have - you can find their ( hackers ) IP's by hexing infected file and take them down to a vacation ( it's called a prison ) As evolva said, use Kaspersky - it's the one and only AV which protects you from executing files into memory ( which is not supported by others ).
I will change my virus protection to kaspersky today!!!! Should I be concerned that they were in my computer? Spybot did take them out...but could they have done anything else while they were active? Should I change all my passwords? Thank you so much for replying. I am a little nervous...
i think its better to change to kaspersky 2009,its the greatest so far,it has helped me a lot with my pc security also try changing your passwords too...
I have just ordered the kaspersky for internet. Waiting for the email with the link. Found it discounted for $29. Thank you.
So glad to hear everyone likes karspensky. I bought the internet version which is one step up from the virus protection. I am hoping it works on hackers. I have never been hacked before... By the way, I found it online for $29. Marked down from $79. It was in the top of the searches! So, back to my original question. Do I need to be concerned as to what they may have gotten into on my computer? Which, by the way (my computer) is still not working right. I am waiting for the download link for the Karspensky to come...
+1 on completely flushing the system (take only what you need - documents) and format c: /f after you have bad stuff on your PC there is no way you can be sure it's all out (google for rootkit if you are curious) and after that have a decent antivirus installed and up-to-day. spybot is a joke it doesn't help against anything serious. i would recomment kaspersky or avast! (latter is free for home use)
Wow. Did you say re-install the Operating system. Eeeeeccck! That is a big step for this country girl. LOL. Have never done that before. Maybe I should take my PC down to a real computer shop and have them check it out.... Thanks for the advice!
Hmmm. But won't a good virus protection do the same? Do I really need to go to those lengths. This is sounding very big... Thank you for your thoughts. I am getting dizzy again....LOL
OK, Kleo. Sounds like I need to take my PC to the shop. I was using avast by the way...but not the pro version. I downloaded the spybot when google told me to. It did remove the hackers and trojan...
Chris. Now I am feeling sorry for myself. Where is a smilie with tears? I got them from sellers on this site is the bad news....
