Hoplink alternatives??

Are there any good alternatives to setting up a landing page with a hoplink? I've always heard of people using Craig's list but this sounds kind of shady, and not very stable, but who knows....maybe its very wise.

Direct linking seems so temporary for some reason, and I suppose that things like hubpages really require you to link to a source of some sort. Would yahoo answers be a bad place to plant a link?

But it's so EASY to buy a domain, set up a Wordpress, and be running be lunch time. Really. There's even this guy on this forum who is selling review sites for $15 already made.

Sounds like fun and good business, but profit doesn't sound like its worth it for the time and little money invested, all though I've been proven wrong before ;)

the thing is, direct linking, craigslist, etc, is only around for as long as the ad is up on the site ...

with your own site/blog setup, the site is there permanently ... even when your craigslist ad is removed , your site is still there, and people may still find it through google etc ... and the more times google sees things linking to your pages, the higher authority you'll get, and then you start to get the magic organic traffic ...

all very worth it in my opinion

Thanks man, I think you're very right about that. I'm new to all of this, and just launched my own product, and I get so very little traffic, because it seems hard to get any respect with a mini site, but still yet I make about a sale a day with only a handful of visitors. I know that I'm making a lot of mistakes, but I'm slowly starting to identify what's working and trying to correct the rest.

It just goes to show you that traffic means more sales, but that conversion is a huge part of the success rate. Just wish I could get a little more organic traffic for my efforts.

Today I tried the 15x15x15x15x15 formula and it worked - if I discipline myself and keep up with it - it should work from here on out. I think the first 15 is increase your product's cost, and I increased it well beyond that and it still sold.

I'm going to try and keep track of my results and if it proves worth it - I'll share what I've learned. I really like this section - you guys are very cool. Thanks for the wonderful advice!! :)
