I forgot how hard exercise was!

Well as it's been freezing cold outside for winter I'd kind of given up running, so it was quite abit of shock.

Just did 3.5 miles in 35 minutes which isn't very good but as I haven't run for a few months ... :( I guess it's acceptable

Tucking into a bowl of tuna now, mmm :)

Does anyone else run alot on here?

I used to run quite a bit. I had my 2.4km run down to under 9 minutes. Then I stopped :( Sad day, I was making a half minute gain every week roughly for a while there.

I also used to love running. I was faster then anyone I ran against, but that was 10 years ago heh. Stupid computers and stupid making money online, now I am way out of shape. I miss being in shape, its really tough to get back into the routine too.

Man this is the worst. After I came back to weightlifting after a year or so, I put myself out for two weeks after my first chest day. Tore my chest and triceps completely apart going to hard at it.

My personal trainer used to tell me that if it was easy - it wasn't exercise.

We're just facing up to Autumn down here and I'm not enjoying the dark mornings as I run through bush and large, quiet parks and while I still feel safe it seems to be unwise. It's not cold yet.

If you've just taken a few months off to hunker down from the snow and ice your body will bounce back well, just be gentle with yourself :)

As for the guys who have let years pass between runs - really, you will work better and live better if you are fit. Get out there - the emails will wait! Life is really, really dull when the effects of a sedentary lifestyle catch up on you.

I was trying to run for a couple weeks, but I could only run .75 miles at a time. I finally realized I'm just not made for it, and it was not worth the effort. Every time I would finish a run I would dry heave; no fun at all.

Yeah, exercise can be really tough especially if you haven't been out for a while.

The only exercise I have been doing is push ups and sit ups and it's really hard.

For those getting back to fitness after a while, I would suggest adding indoor rowing to your list (if you're going to a gym or even thinking of what exercise machines to buy).

For the past 2 months, I have been doing Indoor rowing and it gives an excellent cardio workout. I have lost a bit of weight and my belt is currently pinned on the 2nd last hole. The leg muscles are all nice and reasonably defined. As rowing helps with the lower back, my posture is very good now and it has helped greatly with getting my overall core muscles strengthened.

I row 5K and 2K distances. The 5K would be just the one workout. The 2K is followed by other weight based training (Lats, triceps, glutes etc).

And cycling is good - particulary if the exertion of running makes you heave!!! It's a gentler aerobic activity.
I stop and start my exercise regimes and I never start with running, it's something I add ONCE I'm fit.

    Hi,

I have a bike machine at home that i do for about an hour on the highest speed. Although i haven't done it in a while as i trying to concentrate at this moment in time on my online project but then again thats no excuse. I am thinking of buying LL Cool J Platinum Workout Book. I have heard some good reviews about it so i may i just go and pick it up!

    Thanks

I have just gotten back to the gym after a long winter. Starting on the bike - no running for me.
