Yes, lots of people buy second hand cars. Hyundai has been pretty good for the last few years too. Just make sure to check out some consumer reports to see what problems that make, model and year have been having to see if there are going to be any major problems in the near future.

Well you aren't going to be winning any street races if that's what you mean. There isn't much power to the accents. They are just a nice, little car, easy on gas. Point a to point b type of car.

I couldn't tell you. That depends on a lot of things: how hard you drive it, how well you take care of it etc.

For cars like that, 200-250km would be a safe estimate assuming you take care of it.

That's not to say you aren't going to blow the clutch or transmission or some other high priced parts sooner than that.

I wont suggest you to buy a 2nd hand car at all.
If you are limited in budget, then get a NEW small car like Swift or i10 or something. Believe me, Maruti Swift has 10x times more power than Hyundai Accent..
And Hyundai is no good for a car. I hate their engines... No power at all..

Check for any signs of accident on the outside of the car, any dents etc. Also check the inside of the car whether it's well maintained, if it is than it shows a well beloved car and good owner.

I've never in my life bought a new car; it's just a waste of money.
Second hand cars provide much better value for money if you maintain them properly.
But you need to check the car out thoroghly before buying so it helps if you have a friend that's a motor mechanic who can help you check it out.

I would rather suggest you not to go for old cars.
butter build some more budget, or get a new car within your budget :)

you also need to know who the past owner was and why is he selling the car?

as someone suggested, check for any signs of serious damage.

consult an auto mechanic and if possible ask him to test drive the car.

pay him a small consulting fee and he would be more than happy to help you...:).

ask the owner if he has bills of past repairs/servicing done for the car.

if used properly, an Indian car usually does first 50000 km with no maintenance (except normal servicing) and next 50000 km with minor maintenance.

after 1 lac km, everything depends on how well the car was run and maintained.

if given a choice, I would buy a new small car, than a second-hand bigger car.
