How Much Would You Pay for an Article?

I would just write the article myself if it was more than $1 per 100 words. Not worth more than that IMO

 

I always write my articles myself. It's usually faster than contacting someone to do it for you, plus it's free.
If it's a really huge article (800 words plus) I'd let someone else do it though. I don't really know about the price though. Depending on quality up to $20.

Well, it's not really "free." Your time has a price just like a writer's. If you could be earning more than $20 working on some other aspect of your business in that same amount of time, then writing your own articles is actually costing you more than if you hired the writer. If, on the other hand, you're not making much in that time, and you know how to use the article to get a decent return on investment, then you're better off doing it yourself.

To the OP - you're not really going to get a fully accurate representation by asking here. That's because those willing to pay professional rates aren't likely to talk about it publicly in the forum (they don't want writers on the lower end knowing what they pay, or they'd be bombarded with PMs and emails from writers trying to work with them - instead they usually work through referrals). There are plenty of clients on DP who do pay the higher rates though. I know several writers who start in the $.10 - .15 per word range who get many of their clients here. My own articles usually fall in the $.20 - .50 per word range (and I'd say DP accounts for at least half of my clients). For other types of business writing, those rates go up even more (as does the percentage of webmaster / online entrepreneur clients). I know there are at least a handful who charge even more than $.50 per word, depending on the type of writing (not always strictly "articles").

So if you're just trying to get an idea of the DP market, you won't get an accurate look by asking. If you're trying to figure out what you should charge for your own work based on what they'll pay, there's much more to consider.

 

1 to 1.5c per word is normally good for both the buyer and the seller I guess

i write 250 words articles for 3$ normally.... and i get pretty much orders..

 

You can get decent general article in English for about 1..1.5 cents/word. Paying more than that is a waste.
If you need highly specific or professional article you will probably have to pay more. If it's in language other than English prices also may go up.
