Well, if you're into SEO you certainly heard about the recent changes in google algo. Basically, as far as i got it, this means that "social" sites have less influence, link building got harder, and "brands" get a preference. Now read what happened to me, what i observed: I had several sites with keywords ranking high, one was a squidoo lens ranking page #1 for a keyword on position #4. Another was from my blog where i had a god keyword, with Google position page #4 approx. an hour after i submitted my blog entry on my main site. A few hours ago, there was a thread on Warrior forum about how good squidoo is, and we were talking about rankings for a certain product. I remember a checked a few hours ago and was on page #1 pos #4 for "micro niche finder". I was pissed because someone was RIGHT over me on pos #3, so i though i want to race him and take his position. I digged my site, delicious, stumble. ( The same thing i did a few days ago with the blog entry where i had page #4 on google. I digged it and submitted it to two or so more social bookmarking sites ) NOW...a few hours later, my squidoo lens and the blog entry is TOTALLY vanished from Google! Having this page #1 pos #4 position for a long tim (months).....just a FEW HOURS ago i was checking this because of the warior thread...and now its fricking gone. Now i am aware that G dances once in a while, fluctuations are normal. But my blog-entry has not re-appeared in some days...and i fear that my long-time #1 position for "micro niche finder" is also gone, JUST because i digged it!! I dont get it.... G.
yes. this is now the second time this happened. and note i do NOT excessive bookmarking, i usually only digg and stumble and maybe propeller. Once. If at all, it should increase in ranking and not disappear, dont you think? By the way, on #4 for "micro niche finder" is now another lens from someone else, this just happened withing a couple of hours.
well, there's nothing strange about it actually. when you do a new post, based on the keyword/site theme/content, you get page 1 ranking within an hour or so, often within 24 hours depending on when google index your post. that is actually a sudden bump in ranking for a new post form an established site and not meant to maintain the ranking for long term in the first place. google needs to gather more data and find backlinks to the site/post to assign more permanent ranking. regarding stumble and delicious, they won't help you in terms of google ranking as they are both nofollow
