Believe it or not at the moment there is no words in my national anthem (Bosnia and Herzegovina) .... See for Yourself http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ouK4gmHh-wg
I get a bit annoyed when fellow Brits don't know our national anthem but then they argue there are few occasions it is ever sung. We used to have to sing it at school all the time: God save our gracious Queen Long live our noble Queen God save the Queen Send her victorious Happy and glorious Long to reign over us God save the Queen (obviously the lyrics change to King when Charles or William take over)
Australian Anthem (Advance Australia Fair): Australians all let us rejoice For we are young and free We've golden soil and wealth for toil, Our home is girt by sea: Our land abounds in nature's gifts Of beauty rich and rare, In history's page let every stage Advance Australia fair, In joyful strains then let us sing Advance Australia fair. You would be hard pressed finding an Australian who truly knows it though.
O Canada! Our home and native land! True patriot love in all thy sons command. With glowing hearts we see thee rise, The True North strong and free! From far and wide, O Canada, We stand on guard for thee. God keep our land glorious and free! O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. We could really do without the god part though
Well years ago, as legend has it, like 400 years ago actually, the people of my country would stick their heads into donkey butts to keep warm during the long cold winters in my country. Therefore we kind of had donkey hats, or ass hats, as they said. And during the summer the bat population would explode and poop all over the place, including on our heads...even inside our homes!!!
Although I did not check the video (no time here friend and bandwidth a bit low), but are you serious? How its possible?
That's something very interesting. I never heard that before. And what's the scenario now? What you people do in the long cold winters?
In my own Country. Read as if you can understand this.
Well, interesting anthem! And thanx to let me know the history of ass. Now I understand how ass (donkey) became hat. Actually the concept is very unique . By the way, which country’s anthem is this?
Jana Gana Mana Adhinayaka Jaya He Bharat Bhagya Vidhata Punjab Sindh Gujarat Maratha Dravida Utkala Banga Vindhya Himachal Yamuna Ganga Ucchala Jaladhi Taranga Tubh Shubha Name Jage Tubh Shubha Ashisha Mange Gahe Tubh Jaya Gata Jan Gan Mangaldayak Jay He Bharat Bhagya Vidhata Jaye He ! You say that then dont even give the whole version? There are two verses to the shortened British National Anthem, God save our gracious Queen! Long live our noble Queen! God save the Queen! Send her victorious, Happy and glorious, Long to reign over us, God save the Queen. Thy choicest gifts in store On her be pleased to pour, Long may she reign. May she defend our laws, And give us ever cause, To sing with heart and voice, God save the Queen. But the FULL British National Anthem goes like this: 1. God save our gracious Queen, Long live our noble Queen, God save the Queen! Send her victorious, Happy and glorious, Long to reign over us; God save the Queen! 2. O Lord our God arise, Scatter her enemies And make them fall; Confound their politics, Frustrate their knavish tricks, On Thee our hopes we fix, God save us all! 3. Thy choicest gifts in store On her be pleased to pour; Long may she reign; May she defend our laws, And ever give us cause To sing with heart and voice, God save the Queen! 4. Not in this land alone, But be God's mercies known, From shore to shore! Lord make the nations see, That men should brothers be, And form one family, The wide world over. 5. From every latent foe, From the assassins blow, God save the Queen! O'er her thine arm extend, For Britain's sake defend, Our mother, prince, and friend, God save the Queen! 6. Lord grant that Marshal Wade May by thy mighty aid Victory bring. May he sedition hush, And like a torrent rush, Rebellious Scots to crush. God save the Queen! Now I think thats more than 10 lines! -Piro
Here it is: (USA) Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light, What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming? Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight, O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming? And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there. O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave? On the shore dimly seen thro' the mists of the deep, Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes, What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep, As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses? Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam, In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream: 'T is the star-spangled banner: O, long may it wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
