Since it is free, many of us use estibot as kind of "reference". the question is how trustable? Can we just multiply a coefficient, like 0.6, to the value estibot gives? Thanks.
Estibot is all over the place. It valued a domain at just over $3,000 that I sold for $60,000 a year and a half ago, and has also valued some domains much higher than what they're worth. Automated appraisals are often off in real estate and there's strict conventions and a pretty determined "science" for doing real estate appraisals, so the chances of automated domain appraisals being correct is nil...there's absolutely no way to do it, even with use of comparable sales like in real estate. The simple reason is one person may not pay $10 for a name that someone else might buy for $1,000 - there's absolutely no way to take that into account in an appraisal (and it's not like giving a $10 - $1,000 range on an appraisal would help anyone, lol).
Estibot is made for "dot com". it takes the sales data which are historical data and somehow give you a formula that I think has to do with addition, subtraction, mulitplication, and it turns out to be some kind of average and sub/add to do with keywords sales. So again. Its basically some average formular used on historical data, which could be in the past 5 years when the domain industry was starting to grow (reseller) and give you today's estimation. Its like taking stock value from 2004-2009 average and give you a historical performance measurement. Which is 100% flawed! Anyone think taking historical data to measure today's market is not flawed?
estibot appraisals are based on back links, alexa rank, page rank. However, it is not as good as the appraisal made by the domain expert.
estibot appraisal can be good as well as sometimes way off the mark . but it gives a general idea. also if you use small and cap letters for eg: AbcXyz.com and just abcxyz.com the appraisal will be different .
I like esti but you will not use that tool only. You can get pretty intereting data about domains if you use estiboat. It's results seem real, but even "human" appraisal is not 100% accurate. Just guidelines.
it's the same in any selling market you can get a valuation for a house or a car from different people and they can vary dramatically as they can only go by guidelines. the same is of domain and website valuations. the only true price as most will know is what the buyer is willing to pay.
well it compares your domain with similiar domain sales but in somecases for example you have a rare profitable domain, or a generic keyword it says Reg Fee, thats why I don't really care what it says, but it's an indicator for some people
the best appraisal you could get is : list your domain name for sale at ebay and then put high reserve value. you gonna see how much people are actually willing to pay for it don't believe estibot and other people's appraisal never believe in appraisal sites. believe in market's appraisal.
Estibot is indeed the best one out there when it comes to automated appraisals..but I personally do not trust automated ones too much..you would be better off getting your domains appraised by real humans..
Any domain tool that doesn't tell you how it calculates value is worthless as you have no way of confirming the arbitrary figure it gives you. Go to http://www.namepros.com/ and get a valuation from the horse's mouth! They have a forum where experts will value your domain for free and those people actual disclose in their profiles how each one values domains. There's no richer source of accurate valuation any where on the net.
Those automated appraisal tools give all kinds of unrealistic results! Get an expert to give you a decent valuation.
Well Estibot is just something to give u some kind of an idea about the domain but it can never be used to price domains according to Estibot. I dont even make an offer when someone puts down what Estibot states and they expect that much as well.
I like esti but you will not use that tool only. You can get pretty intereting data about domains if you use estiboat. It's results seem real to me.
