Adwords on YouTube........How ????

    Hi Guys,

I have been trying to get some google ads onto YouTube without success. I have been playing around with it for about 2 weeks now. Have contacted Google but they were no help at all and just kept quoting standard paragrahs from the help menus! And claimed I need to spend $75,000 pa and deal direct with YouTube. Bull shit. The competitors that appear aren't paying that kind of money.

    The issue is this.

I have quite a few videos on YouTube. When I search for them, they all appear on one page, with a whole bunch of Google Ads on the side, from competitors.

So it makes sense to get my ads next to my vids I reckon!

I have tried content campaigns, with placement tragetting, just targetting youtube.com.

I am finally starting to get impressions, but only for a couple of adgroups that have video in the keywords/ads.

I have dozens of ad groups that are very relevant but have zero impressions.

If anyone out there has had success in getting adwords to run on YouTube, please help......

Don't give me links to Google help..........it's no help. Just a simple step 1, 2, 3 would be great, to see if I have missed something.

If you have already targeted youtube but are not getting very many impressions, then the solution is to simply bid higher.

That would be the obvious solution. And I have bid $20 per click over the last couple of days just to test that point. Still nothing.

And I know the companies whose ads do appear. They are companies that I compete with on Google. I know what I need to bid to beat them there and it's about $1....

There must be something about puttimng ads on youtube that I am missing. Has anyone managed it ??

    Hi!

I was on that situation a few months ago... I'l try to summarize what happened with my campaign, I found a lot of interesting stuff on my research.

I was running a content network campaign, driving traffic to one domain.

At first, my ads didn't showed on youtube.. BUT, they showed on Buy.com, shop.com and all that kind of sites I was receiving 300-400 clicks a day... but then, one happy day I started to see a traffic increase (300-400 more clicks/day). I tracked it and used the adwords reports to see what happened, and there were a lot of "youtube.com" urls that my ads were targeting.

Youtube traffic CONVERTS (at least for my site).

So, I tried to create a "only youtube targeted" campaign... and the problem was the same that you have.

Yes... I created a placement targeted campaign only for youtube... and my ads weren´t showing! - Despite I was using the SAME domain to drive my traffic to... I was using both (text, graphic) ads.

I was bidding really high... but no succes...

So, I forgot about it... but wanted to find out why my ads weren't showing at first on youtube and suddenly they started to show.

So... running one of my tests, I changed my domain name... and copied the campaign into a new one (but running my ads with the NEW domain)....
and my ads weren´t showing again on youtube!

Anyway, my traffic was converting nice, I kept running it. And suddenly... after about 5 days ... the ads were showing on youtube!

I have talked with the google people about this, and despite they told me that the ads should always show on that sites anytime... I have the idea that you have to "earn" that place. I have still no idea if it's related on how much time or how much money you have invested on that campaign.

So... my advice for your situation would be the following: (You asked for a 1,2,3... but here's a 1,2.....6, hehe)...

    1. Run a content network campaign... BUT target only keywords related with what you see on your videos... I mean, things like "bugs bunny on video" "bugs bunny funny trailer" if your campaign is about bugs bunny of course.... Don't bid so high... you may get some impressions and some clicks (anyway, play a little bit with your keywords to see which keywords target which sites).

    2. Track the sites, use the adwords reports or your favorite tracking software to see which sites are your ads showing on.

    3. You may notice that your ads won't show at youtube at first.. .keep the campaign running until they start to appear there.

    4. If you want to target only youtube... just add ALL the other sites as negative sites on the adwords interface.

    OR YOU CAN:

    5. Now, your domain is able to be shown on youtube... you can now run your placement targeted campaign.

    6. BUT... I bet that you'll have better conversion driving traffic from other sites too. sometimes youtube traffic is not the best you can get (depends on your niche and user).

Anyway... don't follow this as a magic recipe, we don't know if it will work for you. But I guess it worths testing.

Thanks, and sorry about my english.

    Pizano.

Guys. I am tearing my hair out here. Have tried everything. High bids you name it.

Right next to my vids on youtube are competitor ads that are not even relevant. Cannot get my ads (adwords) to run next to my videos whatever I do.

Does anyone out there know how to do it? Please don't state the blindingly obvious, like bid more. I am bidding $50 a click and still nothing. The competitor ads next to my videos are ones that I see all the time on google search and I can beat them with quite small bids.

So what is the secret with youtube?

First , Advertisers should know, Google doesnt use Youtube as a advertising content network in full . They dont show ads in all page views or all related contents. So getting your ads in Youtube is not so easy. Thus the situation being here, then how can you get your ads in next to your videos. Even you bid $1000+ per click , there is no guarantee.

Wait for some months. When google show ads in all pageviews, then you bid little and target, you will see your ads..

I am wondering why people want to show ads in youtube.com for $50 CPC. Just for Pride !!!!!...

Given that ads are appearing all over the pages where my videos show, I am not sure of your logic here.

If you read my post properly you would realise. I was bidding high to establish if it was the bid that was determining what ads were being shown. By bidding $50 and still getting no impressions, this shows it is not the bid that dictates if the ads show. It must be something else.

I notice a great deal of advice given on this forum is based on guess work. Does anyone actually know the answer to this problem?

    Guys,

Does anyone out there know how to crack this problem. It is driving me crazy.

Lots of competitors ads appear on my you tube video pages, but I cannot get my Google ads to appear on these pages at all. My ads are more relevant and still do not appear. Even if I bid high, like $50 a click (just to test the theory) they still don't appear.

    What's the answer??

No, I mean having the ads appear on the same page as the videos.
