Do backlinks boost Rank in search engines (eg. Google)?

    If I submit my article links to social bookmarking sites, does my page rank for the article get higher in the search engines?

    If you do social bookmarking in do-follow SB sites, then definitely your article's ranking will improve, though there are other factors also to get higher ranking in search engines like competition for the keyword you are targeting, your article's keyword density etc...
