North Korea launched 6 test missles. They basically failed.

The missles are not nuclear. They are testing their weapons and trying to show their resolve. However, the today's test ended up having negative results for North Korea.

    1) It shows their missile capability is currently lacking.
    2) They are willing to do whatever they want.
    3) Their leader needs the press.

Also, being able to make nuclear warheads, attach a nuclear warhead to a missle and successfully deliver it are three processes. Currently North Korea is maybe at stage one. The failure of their long range missle showed that they don't even have reliable missle technology yet.

Right now, the best North Korea could do is detonate any nuclear weapons it has on it's own soil. The damage would be very limited considering they are estimated to have a handful.

I don't see any military action there. China, South Korea and Japan would need to sign off on it first.

You fucking americans think you rule the world. You guys test weapons on a daily base, no one making a problem of it. But if an other country is trying something new out all hell breaks loose. It's kinda hypocrit.....

Don't get me wrong, I don't justify these tests but the USA should stop acting like they rule the world.

    Peace

Yo-Yo, no man let alone a president can be wrong all the time and you jumping on him for everything shows your comments are based on emotion (hatred) not reason.

I really don't understand your problem with Bush's actions regarding N. Korea.

    Such vigor.

No, actually it isn't. All weapons/space launches that could cause confusion are reported with the exact details of the operation, so no one is confronted with war as a thought.

Even North Korea announced the test. It was kinda provocating though. But the american tests are also provocating for the North Koreans.

And euuhm if you test weapons I think about war, or do you think they are meant to protect us from an alien invasion....

How is north korea the "aggressor" ... how are they provoking us by firing some test missiles 100 miles into the sea?

We're constantly talking down on them, constantly making threats to them, and now they move warships into the region and say they can shoot down missiles, etc.

What's the big fucking deal if north korea tests a missile? For christ's sake.. we new they were going to test them.. we've known so for a long time. None of them came close to hitting america... so why are we involved in constantly antagonising them?

Announcements without specific details aren't really assuring.

And America has every right to be weary of NK, as it attacked it's ally SK and has held a military border since then. Similiar to the Russians before they collasped.

What test are you referring to?

Your writings are a bit hard to decipher.

I have no delusions about my government's investment in the military complex. Do I like them all? No, but I'm by no means desirous of becoming a Canada in terms of a military, nor do I think that there aren't reputable threats out there. I suppose I just don't follow the suite of most of the world, whom really doesn't have a sensible military to account for.

Most people still think pre-world war 2 ie Hitler's not going to attack us, so lets not worry about having a military. Didn't do well for them then, and meant we have save their asses...from both hitler and communist russia. Still most countries aren't sensible.

Except we're on the entire other side of the world - besides canada or mexico - anyone who wanted to invade us has to cross the ocean with weapons and soldiers. That's no easy task.

First of all, they still reside under the same leaders that tried to take over South Korea (our allies), so we should never trust them. Second they made international agreements, and if they wish to deal with America in any manner, they must abide by those agreements.

Hence the desire for a missile that makes that job easier. But hey, its not threatening, right?

I don't see how that related to what I was saying. *shrug*

No, it wouldn't be easy for many reasons: our military size and capability, supplies would be hard to maintain (unless they took over Mexico or Canada), and the level of personal weapons owned by civilians. But any war with the US would be fought with missiles.

Although the Chinese could spare a billion or so people...since their government doesn't really care much for their people.

That was 50 years ago and is more complicated than "they just attacked our ally"...
It was a civil war over what used to be 1 country that was split in two.... from what I can tell was only because of US/Russian interference  .

Maybe I'm wrong about that... I'm not an expert on the korean war.

Maybe they have a desire for a missile so they have their own deterrent? Maybe they feel threatened and want the capability because of things like being called the "axis of evil".. etc.

You act like america should be the only country trusted to have all the weapons in the world and nobody should be capable of defending themselves from us.... and anyone with the desire to have that capability is somehow threatening our safety?

Well, what if US attacked North Korea 20 years ago? What if US attacked Sovjet after WW2. What if US attacked China in the 60ies? If you dealed with them now, you wouldn't have to deal with the outcome from the peace now.

Well, mayby it would be better to not let US attack Nazi Germany after all, we could then have a Nazi Europe today.

We're NOT antagonizing them. They're antagonizing us if anything. Our concern is if they have a nuke that can hit an ally, or make one to hit us.

YOU, nyphra, are a stupid, flippant little hypocritical jerk that lies and obviously hates a country that probably saved yours. Where are you from, you flaming idiot? (I would use stronger language but it's against my standards... I know it sounds stupid but if he was here in person I'd probably punch him out cold.)

Your comment REALLY insults me. You are dissing three hundred million people based on some tightly twisted news that you arrogantly accepted for your own ignorance. Go back to your own little corner and rot there, for all I care.

We test weapons to protect ourselves. We are not ruled by a crazy dictator like Kim Jong and NOT all hell has broken loose. YOU are "kinda hypocrit"ical.

And OBVIOUSLY you don't justify these tests, how can we get you wrong, you insignificant piece of garbage!

If we acted like we ruled the world, we'd be in every single country quelling civil wars and nuking resisters.

    Now shut up.

The time doesn't matter. Would you trust hitler, had he lived to still rule a government fifty years later?

Japan took Korea in world war 2, but after it was over US and Russia divided the country at the 38th parallel....much like East/West Germany. North Korea claimed someone from the South went into their territory, and they basically had their military march right down the whole of the land...almost takening over it completely, till we had come-in and kicked their sorry ass.

If we allowed everyone of our allies to be beaten, we'd have no one to trade with.

I'm not asserting your are one (ie an isolationalist), but sometimes you sound like it...isolationism doesn't work, especially when you're dealing with dumbasses. If we took that approach everywhere, the world would be dominated by all the REAL scum of the world.
