Do not trust all online scan.. There are some online scanners that infects your pc with trojans.. Well, you need to change to either firefox 3, safari 4 or Opera 9. :)

OK, you do not need to reinstall windows just yet. What you need to do is when the computer is rebooting hit F8 until a screen pops up asking you for what kind of start up you want to do.

When you get this message select "safe mode"

When you are running in safe mode your computer is going to look way different, this is normal. Now try to run any anti-virus you can and see if it will delete anything.

If you do not have an anti-virus at all because you can't install one try to install it when you are in safe mode.

I recommend these tools for you. They are all free.

    Avast home edition
Malware-bytes -This program alone I bet will clean most of the stuff off.

If you need more help just leave a reply on her and I will help you. Please, do not Pm me though, I might loose you message.

I had this problem recently. I had a virus that would not allow any new installs of antivirus programs. I changed the file name of the particular antivirus program and it allowed me to proceed...

housecall.trendmicro.com is superb; I use it all the time. That will remove your trojans/viruses.

Seems that you've some trojan in your PC ! The best way to fix it is to boot in safe mode, install Avast and turn on boot-time scan.

At first i thought you have a scheduled task to shut down, But obviously this is a virus.

I believe that the reason why you're getting the error when you try to intall an antivirus is that the virus has limited your account administrate rights.

Tips: Use safe mode - Don't trust online scans.

Think the salinity virus is troubling your computer.
it integrates with all exe files which disables you from installing any new softwares..

possibly malware that is unremovable or just hard to detect, if you clear your whole harddrive and reinstall a new windows your just starting all over, take it to a shop and they can probably help you but then once its back you should use website of trust for firefox so you can be more secure when surfing the web and maybe i would suggest using AVG internet security

Ok also t add i did not see the last post but eh you should try using the rest i was talking about to stay secure

I would have suggested taking your PC to a PC technician to fix the PC. Usually someone asking for help to fix their PC,doesn't know how to fix their PC.

if its a virus or malware, and it keeps restarting, then the only good solution is try reinstalling Xp, if that does not work, i guess reformatting it would be the last resolve, sorry! i just hope you do back up your files regularly:)

Formatting your windows and re installing fresh windows is the best option for you.
make sure after formatting and re-installation, go for a good antivirus.
